Background: The mesh fixation method is one of the multiple factors associated with chronic postoperative pain in inguinal hernia surgery. Methods: We designed an observational study with retrospective cohorts to analyze postoperative pain in patients who underwent a laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal inguinal hernia repair with a self-fixating mesh or staple fixation, which are the two available techniques in our field.
