Ethylene is a plant hormone regulator that stimulates chlorophyll loss and promotes softening and aging, resulting in a deterioration and reduction in the post-harvest life of fruit. Commercial activated carbons have been used as ethylene scavengers during the storage and transportation of a great variety of agricultural commodities. Metastases to the oral cavity are extremely rare events, representing less than 1% of all malignant oral tumors. Renal cell carcinoma constitutes about 3% of solid tumors in adults, and it is the most frequent kidney neoplasm, representing about 90% of kidney malignancies. Due to the silent growth of this neoplasm, most patients have no symptoms and the diagnosis is belated, usually after metastases.

Background: Women with previous gestational diabetes mellitus (pGDM) face a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes and, consequently, a higher cardiovascular risk. This study aimed to compare the carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) from young women with pGDM to those with metabolic syndrome (MS) and to healthy controls (CG) to verify whether a past history of pGDM could be independently associated with increased cIMT.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study performed in two academic referral centers.

Background And Objectives: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune neurologic disease that affects the postsynaptic portion of the neuromuscular junction. It represents a challenge for anesthesiologists due to the diversity of disease manifestations and possibility of postoperative respiratory complications. The objective of this study was to demonstrate the importance of adequate monitoring of the neuromuscular blockade (NMB) due to the multiple presentations of MG.

A critical reflection is proposed on the knowledge that has been produced by Nursing, that identifies it as a discipline, and on whether that knowledge is enough, based on the positive sciences and therefore with a framework of science and scientific discipline in order to build the fundamentals of care, which is the object with which Nursing works. Under a historical perspective, this paper analyzes how Brazilian Nursing, especially since the 1990s, has been dedicating itself to theoretical and practical problems and to concrete experiences on care anchored to various knowledge dimensions, signalizing the need for continuity of knowledge production that is linked to practical and routine experiences of Nursing, including other knowledge approaches that are focused on ontological, existential, dialogical and other dimensions, because the health-disease process is always complex and filled with ethical values which express the singularity of men.

The reference source method associated with HPGe gamma-ray spectrometric techniques has been applied to half-life determinations of radionuclides used in nuclear medicine. Simultaneous measurements were undertaken for radiopharmaceutical nuclides such as 67Ga, 99Tcm, 123I, 131I and another radionuclide as reference. Besides optimizing the analysis time, this procedure was shown to be independent of the instrumental technique, environmental and radiochemical impurity interferences for most radionuclides.
