Previous systematic literature reviews of rotavirus genotype circulation in Europe and the Middle East are limited because they do not include country-specific prevalence data. This study documents country-specific evidence on the prevalence of rotavirus genotypes in Europe and the Middle East to enable more precise epidemiological modeling and contribute to the evidence-base about circulating rotavirus genotypes in the post-vaccination era. This study systematically searched PubMed, Embase and Scopus for all empirical epidemiological studies that presented genotype-specific surveillance data for countries in Europe and the Middle East published between 2006 and 2021.

Unravelling spatio-temporal patterns of suspended microplastic concentration in the Natura 2000 Guadalquivir estuary (SW Spain): Observations and model simulations.

Microplastics (MPs) patterns in a weakly-stratified estuary were investigated using a combined approach of observations and modeling. The study was conducted in the Guadalquivir River Estuary, which is of high environmental value, yet significantly altered by human activities. The study aims to contribute to understanding and quantifying the land-ocean transport of MPs.

Benchmarking of drought and climate indices for agricultural drought monitoring in Argentina.

Site-specific studies are required to identify suitable drought indices (DIs) for assessing and predicting drought-related impacts. This study presents a benchmark of eight DIs and 19 large-scale climate indices (CIs) to monitor agricultural drought in Argentina. First, the link between the CIs and DIs was investigated at the departmental-administrative level and at different temporal scales.

The purpose of this study was to describe the challenges that promotoras face and the proposed solutions from the perspective of the promotoras themselves. Five promotoras who worked for a year as volunteers in a community-based participatory research study, , participated in two group interviews.

The goal of Lazos Hispanos is to enhance the health and well-being of the Latinx community through promotoras, who connect community members with service providers for multiple health and social needs. A community-based participatory research conceptual model framed the multimethod evaluation of promotoras, service providers, and community participants at baseline and at the 1-year follow up. The promotoras increased their self-efficacy and knowledge, felt a strong sense of commitment to the community, viewed themselves as a bridge between participants and providers, and felt empowered by their new role.

Differential sensitivity of the On and Off visual responses to retinal ischemia.

Retinal ischemia is a common condition that may lead into vision impairment and blindness. In this study, we evaluated changes separately in On and Off visual responses induced by retinal ischemia. To do this, reversible retinal ischemia was induced in anaesthetized rats by increasing the intraocular pressure until the eye fundus became whitish for either 30 or 60 min.
