Met and unmet needs of dependent older people according to the Camberwell Assessment of Need for the Elderly (CANE): A scoping review.

In order to address the complexity of needs of dependent older people, multidimensional and person-centered needs assessment is required. The objective of this review is to describe met and unmet needs of dependent older people, living in the community or in institutions, and the factors associated with those needs. Selection criteria included papers about need asessment which employed the Camberwell Assesment of Need for the Elderly (CANE).

Multiple roles and subjective well-being of middle-aged women who are caregivers of elderly people in Chile.

Women who fulfill many roles, particularly caregivers who fulfill other social responsibilities, risk their well-being. Using a nationally representative sample, we studied the association between being a caregiver to elderly people, performing other social roles, and subjective well-being in middle-aged women in Chile. Using ordinary least squares models, we found that being a caregiver was negatively associated with life satisfaction, which significantly decreased if the caregiver was also head of household.

Social capital, social participation and life satisfaction among Chilean older adults.

Objective: To examine factors associated with social participation and their relationship with self-perceived well-being in older adults.

Methods: This study was based on data obtained from the National Socioeconomic Characterization (CASEN) Survey conducted in Chile, in 2011, on a probability sample of households. We examined information of 31,428 older adults living in these households.
