The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) and cardiovascular risk factors in a rural population in the province of San Luis, Argentina. Cross-sectional study developed between September and November 2017 with 18-year-old inhabitants and more than four towns in the Juan Martín de Pueyrredón department, San Luis. The participants answered questions by self-report on sociodemographic aspects, habits, psychosocial and risk factors for non-communicable diseases; physical measurements, FINDIRSC questionnaire and blood sample extraction were performed.

In this work, a conducting polymer (CP) was obtained through three electrochemical procedures to study its effect on the development of an electrochemical immunosensor for the detection of immunoglobulin G (IgG-Ag) by square wave voltammetry (SWV). The glassy carbon electrode modified with poly indol-6-carboxylic acid (6-PICA) applied the cyclic voltammetry technique presented a more homogeneous size distribution of nanowires with greater adherence allowing the direct immobilization of the antibodies (IgG-Ab) to detect the biomarker IgG-Ag. Additionally, 6-PICA presents the most stable and reproducible electrochemical response used as an analytical signal for developing a label-free electrochemical immunosensor.

Two of these undescribed species were registered as invasive in Central and North America: Hyp-C is a cactophagous mealybug that became an important pest that threatens endemic cactus species in Puerto Rico, and Hyp-AP feeds on Amaranthaceae and Portulacaceae hosts, but does not produce severe damage to the host plants. We quantified genomic variation and investigated the demographic history of both invasive species by means of coalescent-based simulations using high throughput sequencing data.
