Previous literature showed a complex interpretation of recall tasks due to the complex relationship between Executive Functions (EF) and Long Term Memory (M). The Test of Memory Strategies (TMS) could be useful for assessing this issue, because it evaluates EF and M simultaneously. This study aims to explore the validity of the TMS structure, comparing the models proposed by Vaccaro et al.

The location and quantity of body fat determine the health risks, limiting people with obesity. Recently, polyphenols have attracted the attention of the scientific community because of their potential use for the reduction of obesity. A proprietary formula comprised of a blend of and has been recognized for its high content of polyphenols, powerful antioxidant molecules that may prevent weight gain and could be helpful for the treatment of obesity, as proven previously by in vivo models.

Introduction: osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease that leads to increased bone fragility and increased risk of fracture.

Objectives: the aim of the present research was to determine the effectiveness of a diary intake of three different dairy products (250 ml) enriched with vitamins and calcium on decreasing bone mass. METHOS: the present study is a comparative trial of three dairy products fortified with calcium and vitamin D, parallel, randomized, double-blind andsingle-center.

Introduction: Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is the gold standard screening technique used in the diagnostic protocol for thyroid nodules. However, it is not free of complications.

Objective: To identify thyroid nodules in which FNAB could be avoided during the diagnostic process by means of the use of a high-resolution ultrasonography or elastography.

Extracytoplasmic function (ECF) σ factors are critical players in signal transduction networks involved in bacterial response to environmental changes. The Myxococcus xanthus genome reveals ∼45 putative ECF-σ factors, but for the overwhelming majority, the specific signals or mechanisms for selective activation and regulation remain unknown. One well-studied ECF-σ, CarQ, binds to its anti-σ, CarR, and is inactive in the dark but drives its own expression from promoter P(QRS) on illumination.

Background: Health-related Habits (HrH) are a major priority in healthcare. However there is little agreement on whether exercise, diet, smoking or dental hygiene are better described as lifestyles, habits or behaviors, and on what is their hierarchical relationship. This research is aimed at representing the basic concepts which are assumed to constitute the conceptual framework enabling us to interpret and organize the field of HrH.

Three different systems of designating protected areas in a Mediterranean region in southeastern Spain were studied, referring to their effectiveness and efficiency for protecting both the breeding territories and the suitable habitat of a set of ten raptor species. Taking into consideration the varying degrees of endangerment of these species, a map of multispecies conservation values was also drawn up and superimposed on the three protected-area systems studied. In order to compare the levels of protection afforded by the three systems, we considered two indices that measured their relative effectiveness and efficiency.

Background And Objective: Evaluate the influence of some variables (gender, age, alcohol intake and obesity) on the apnea/hypopnea index (AHI) in patients with sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (SAHS).

Patients And Method: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients with SAHS in the Hospital General Universitario of Murcia. We assessed demographic variables, alcohol intake, Epworth's scale, obesity and cardiorespiratory polygraphy or polysomnography.

The animal model for chronic pain following sciatic nerve section in the rat has been studied varying the sensory afferents prior to nerve section, using the anaesthetic blocking of the sciatic nerve. The experimental parameters used were the day of onset of autotomy and the time course of autotomy. The results show that the anaesthetic blocking prior to nerve section significantly reduces the degree of autotomy.
