[Peak expiratory flow vs. spirometry for the diagnosis of asthma in adults].

Background: The diagnosis of asthma is confirmed with a spirometry: FEV1 ratio (forced expiratory volume in one second)/FVC (forced vital capacity) <80% with reversibility (FEV1 >12% or 200 mL) after using salbutamol. The peak expiratory flow is cheap and easy to use; it measures the forced expiratory flow, of which reversibility > 20% suggests asthma.

Objective: To know the sensitivity, specificity, and the positive and negative predictive values of the flowmeter.

Expression of NLRP3 inflammasome, cytokines and vascular mediators in the skin of systemic sclerosis patients.

Background: The activated NLRP3 inflammasome is associated with the etiology of fibrotic diseases. The role of inflammasomes in SSc is still poorly understood.

Objectives: To determine the expression of NLRP3 (nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich-repeat-containing family, pyrin domain-containing 3) in the skin of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and its relationship with pro-inflammatory cytokines and vascular mediators expression.
