Purpose: The initial success of vitreoretinal surgery can be annihilated by an acceleration of preexisting glaucoma or the development of secondary glaucoma. Aim of this study was to determine the incidence of and risk factors for medically uncontrollable glaucoma after vitreoretinal surgery.
Methods: Case-control study amongst patients who underwent vitreoretinal surgery at the University Medical Center Groningen between 1991 and 2011 (in total 14,942 interventions).
Aims: The molecular alterations underlying follicular Hürthle cell carcinomas (FHCCs) are largely unknown. In an attempt to clarify this issue, we analysed a series of Hürthle cell tumours for the presence of RET/PTC and PAX8/PPARG rearrangements and BRAF, HRAS and NRAS mutations.
Methods And Results: We investigated a series of 20 follicular Hürthle cell tumours [17 FHCCs and three follicular Hürthle cell adenomas (FHCAs)].
Purpose: To determine the feasibility and specificity of glaucoma screening during regular optician visits.
Methods: In four optician shops, glaucoma screening was offered to 400 consecutive visitors aged 45 years or above. If the visitor agreed to participate, an intraocular pressure measurement and - in those with a pressure below 25 mmHg - a frequency-doubling perimeter (FDT) C20-1 visual field screening test were performed.

Background: Selective embolization therapy (SET) has been employed to treat a number of malignant tumors, but experience with its use in metastatic epithelial thyroid carcinoma (ETC) is limited. Here we report our experience with the effect of SET on symptoms and serum thyroglobulin (Tg) in patients with bone metastases from ETC.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of 13 patients with bone metastases from ETC who underwent 65 embolizations for bone metastases in 43 sessions.
