Objective: To understand the father's lived experience of childbirth as a significant life situation within the well-being concept framework. To understand the father's lived experience of childbirth within the framework of the concept of well-being as a significant life situation.
Method: Secondary data analysis from a qualitative study about the experience of twelve Chilean fathers who were prepared to actively participate at childbirth from a mixed public-private health system institution between 2016-2017, was carried out.
Objective: To expose visibility of the health concerns of sexual and gender minority groups in Chile, as well as to provide a platform to advocate for policies that support the health and well-being of sexual and gender minority people in the country.
Methods: The health conditions and risk factors of participants identified as sexual and gender minority were compared to those identified as cisgender heterosexual using data from the 2016-2017 National Health Survey.
Results: Despite reporting higher self-rated health than heterosexual men, gay men had a higher risk of lifetime diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections.
Purpose Of Review: This review brings a major, previously under-recognized dental and general health problem to the attention of the medical and scientific community. The goals are to help clinicians make early diagnoses, thereby improving treatment outcomes, and to stimulate increasing research efforts to understand the etiology and ultimately prevention.
Recent Findings: There are two recent systematic reviews of molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH).
Introduction: DNA extracted from ancient human bones allows to analyze the genetic makeup of pre-Columbian populations and to determine the dynamics that gave rise to the diversity of contemporary populations.
Objective: To determine the genetic diversity of skeletal remains associated with the Templo del Sol (Sun Temple) and their relationship with other contemporary and ancient communities of America.
Materials And Methods: We analyzed 13 individuals belonging to the pre-Columbian Muisca Period (IX-XVI centuries AD) from the vicinities of the Templo del Sol (Sun Temple) (Sogamoso, Boyacá) in the eastern Colombian Andes.
Background: Current molar hypomineralisation (MH) indices do not guide clinicians in management of affected dentitions, and treatment is based on individual judgment.
Aim: The aims of this study were to describe characteristics of MH and molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) and trial the new Molar Hypomineralisation Severity Index (MHSI).
Design: First permanent molars (FPMs) and permanent incisors (PIs) in 283 affected children were examined for hypomineralisation characteristics [defect colour, location, post-eruptive breakdown (PEB); restorations placed/replaced/atypical; sensitivity].
Objective: To explore the relationship between knowledge level and occupational risk exposure to HIV/AIDS in primary care health workers.
Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study. 720 health workers from Santiago answered a survey about HIV/AIDS that included: knowledge level (appropriate, inappropriate), occupational risk (with or without risk), and control variables (age, gender, health center, education and marital status).
The biological activity of compound 9 obtained by introducing an alpha-methylene-gamma-butyrolactone group into 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid, 1, was studied for possible effects on HL-60 cells, murine splenocytes, and human peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMC). 9 induced apoptosis in the HL-60 cell line and has a clear capacity to inhibit proliferation induced in murine splenocytes and PBMC by different mitogenic agents with no apparent toxic side effects. 9 was synthesized from 1, and its structure and stereochemistry were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.
