We conducted a large-scale survey covering 58 countries and over 100,000 respondents between late March and early April 2020 to study beliefs and attitudes towards citizens' and governments' responses at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most respondents reported holding normative beliefs in support of COVID-19 containment measures, as well as high rates of adherence to these measures. They also believed that their government and their country's citizens were not doing enough and underestimated the degree to which others in their country supported strong behavioral and policy responses to the pandemic.

Compounds [BuN][VO(oda)⊂2Cl], 1, [BuN][VO(glut)⊂2Cl], 2, and [BuN][VO(glut)⊂F], 3, (oda = oxydiacetate, O(CHCOO); glut = glutarate, CH(CHCOO)) were obtained by a stepwise reaction of in situ prepared [BuN]VO with HCl (or HF for 3) and then with the dicarboxylic acid X(CHCOOH) (X = O and CH), under appropriate reaction conditions. Multinuclear magnetic resonance (H, C{H}, Cl, F and V), electrochemical studies, X-ray structural determinations (single crystal and powder), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations were employed to characterise these polyoxovanadate complexes 1-3. They included encapsulated halide anions, two chloride ions in 1 and 2 and one fluoride ion in 3, where the shape and dimensions of the cage were governed by the halide size.

Members of a series of iridacyclopentenes of composition [Tp Ir(k -C,C-CH CR'=CRCH )(CO)] (Tp =hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borate; R=R'=H, 1; R=Me, R'=H, 2; R=R'=Me, 3) have been subjected to common organic chemistry procedures for hydrogenation, cyclopropanation, epoxidation, water addition through hydroboration, cis-dihydroxylation, and ozonolysis. The stability of metallacycles 1-3, imparted by the presence of the co-ligands Tp and CO, directs the reactivity towards the C=C double bonds, and furthermore the stereochemistry of the products formed is strongly dictated by the steric demands of the Tp ligand. While the products obtained in some of the above-mentioned reactions are the expected ones from an organic chemistry point of view, in other cases the results differ from the outcomes of similar reactions carried out with the all-carbon counterparts.

In the mononuclear title iridium(III) complex, [Ir(C4H8)(C15H22BN6)(C3H9P)], which is based on the [tris-(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-yl)hydro-borato]iridium moiety, Ir[Tp(Me2)], the Ir(III) atom is coordinated by a chelating butane-1,4-diyl fragment and a trimethyl-phosphane ligand in a modestly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by three facial N, two C and one P atom. The iridium-butane-1,4-diyl ring has an envelope conformation. This ring is disordered because alternately the second or the third C atom of the butane-1,4-diyl fragment function as an envelope flap atom (the occupancy ratio is 1:1).

Growth of Alicyclobacillus in low-pH fruit juices may result in off-odors and off-flavors due to the production of compounds such as guaiacol (2-methoxy phenol). An important step in preventing Alicyclobacillus contamination of fruit juices is the screening of incoming ingredients. Many fruit juice concentrates contain compounds that inhibit Alicyclobacillus growth, but beverages produced from the concentrates may not contain sufficient amounts of the active component to prevent spoilage.

The N(2)-donor bidentate ligands di(1H-indazol-1-yl)methane (L(1)) and di(2H-indazol-2-yl)methane (L(2)) (L in general) have been synthesized, and their coordination behavior toward Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) salts has been studied. Reaction of L(1) and L(2) with ZnX(2) (X = Cl, Br, or I) yields [ZnX(2)L] species (1-6), that, in the solid state, show a tetrahedral structure with dihapto ligand coordination via the pyrazolyl arms. The reaction of L(1) and L(2) with Zn(NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O is strongly dependent on the reaction conditions and on the ligand employed.

A live, attenuated respiratory syncytial virus and parainfluenza virus type 3 vaccine was evaluated in healthy respiratory syncytial virus/parainfluenza virus type 3 seropositive children aged 1 to 9 years. Three cohorts of 40 children were randomized 1:1 to receive 10, 10, or 10 median tissue culture infectious dose50 MEDI-534 vaccine or placebo. The vaccine's safety profile was similar to placebo, no viral shedding was detected, and the vaccine was minimally immunogenic.

MEDI-534 is a bivalent live attenuated vaccine candidate against human respiratory syncytial virus (hRSV) and human parainfluenza virus type 3 (hPIV3) that was previously shown to be immunogenic and to protect rodents and African green monkeys from wild-type (wt) hRSV challenge. We performed further preclinical evaluations to address the safety of MEDI-534 prior to human testing. MEDI-534 did not predispose rodents to enhanced RSV disease following wt-RSV challenge, and the tissue tropism of the chimeric virus was confined to the respiratory tract.
