Therefore, a thorough characterization of noise emissions from road transportation sources is needed to stem this problem. This investigation aims to fill a gap in the literature regarding single-vehicle noise emissions in the frequency domain.

A Comprehensive Approach to the Diagnosis of Leigh Syndrome Spectrum.

Background: Leigh syndrome spectrum (LSS) is a novel nomenclature that encompasses both classical Leigh syndrome and Leigh-like phenotypes. Given the heterogeneity of disease presentation, a new consensus published recently addressed the main issues and proposed general guidelines towards diagnosis. Based on these recommendations, we developed a simple pipeline that can be useful in the diagnosis of LSS.

Cultural competence of undergraduate student nurses: a multicenter study.

Objective: to evaluate the level of cultural competence of an undergraduate nursing students' population from four European higher education institutions.

Method: a total of 168 nursing students from four different countries were included in our study. The study methodology involved a cross-sectional assessment of cultural competence among undergraduate nursing students from four European universities.

Deuterated water ( H O) is a widely used tracer of carbohydrate biosynthesis in both preclinical and clinical settings, but the significant kinetic isotope effects (KIE) of H can distort metabolic information and mediate toxicity. O-water (H O) has no significant KIE and is incorporated into specific carbohydrate oxygens via well-defined mechanisms, but to date it has not been evaluated in any animal model. Mice were given H O during overnight feeding and O-enrichments of liver glycogen, triglyceride glycerol (TG), and blood glucose were quantified by C NMR and mass spectrometry (MS).

Dyslipidemia Diagnosis and Treatment: Risk Stratification in Children and Adolescents.

Dyslipidemias or dyslipoproteinemias are quantitative changes in total cholesterol concentration, respective fractions, or triglycerides in the plasma. Unlike H, O does not experience significant isotope effects for any of these processes. Therefore, H O might provide more precise estimates of endogenous carbohydrate synthesis compared with deuterated water provided that positional O enrichments of glucose can be measured.

Autonomous vehicles opportunities for cities air quality.

The impacts of autonomous vehicles (AV) on safety, energy and atmospheric emissions have been recognised to be important issues, but an air quality impact assessment is missing. In this study, by using a numerical modelling approach, the impact of AV on the air quality of a medium-sized Portuguese urban area was evaluated. For that, the air pollutants nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon dioxide (CO) were considered and three scenarios were developed: i) a baseline scenario; ii) an autonomous scenario, assuming an AV market penetration rate of 30%; and iii) an electric autonomous scenario, taking into account that those 30% of AV are pure battery electric cars.
