Statins are the primary pharmacological intervention to reduce LDL cholesterol; they significantly reduce inflammatory markers. Ezetimibe also reduces LDL cholesterol and reduces cardiovascular events when given on top of statin therapy. Whether ezetimibe, like statins, reduces markers of inflammation is less clear.
