Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease (LCPD) is a condition marked by temporary blood flow disruption to the proximal femur, commonly afflicting children aged 15 and younger. The etiology of the disease is often idiopathic and involves the development of avascular necrosis of the femoral head, subsequently leading to bone weakening and deformity. Obesity exacerbates LCPD, correlating with delayed diagnosis, increased disease severity, and bilateral involvement.

Background: Adverse local tissue reaction (ALTR) is a recognized complication of total hip arthroplasty (THA) with metal-on-polyethylene (MoP) bearing surface implants. Specific models of THA implants have been identified as having a higher incidence of ALTR. The purpose of this study is to determine if serum metal levels, patient symptoms, implant factors, and imaging findings can be predictive of ALTR within this high-risk population.

The purpose of this study is to compare differences between asymptomatic and symptomatic ALTR in an observational cohort, including presentation, metal ion differences, and metal artifact reduction sequence (MARS) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings.
Methods: We performed a retrospective review of an observational cohort of 492 MoP THA patients at increased risk of developing ALTR.
Purpose Of The Study: The matrilineal advantage theory suggests that paternal grandparents are more at risk of having little or no contact with their grandchildren. However, there is significant family diversity within Australia and we wished to understand the experiences of a wide range of grandparents in order to determine if the matrilineal theory can be effectively used in practice to identify those grandparents most at risk for estrangement.
Design And Methods: A convenience group of grandparents with little or no contact with grandchildren (n=38) told their stories in their own words using narratives obtained through interview or writing.
Background: Childhood mental health problems are highly prevalent, experienced by one in five children living in socioeconomically disadvantaged families. Although childcare settings, including family day care are ideal to promote children's social and emotional wellbeing at a population level in a sustainable way, family day care educators receive limited training in promoting children's mental health. This study is an exploratory wait-list control cluster randomised controlled trial to test the appropriateness, acceptability, cost, and effectiveness of "Thrive," an intervention program to build the capacity of family day care educators to promote children's social and emotional wellbeing.

Identification of evidentiary ivory typically involves a detailed and comprehensive visual and microscopic examination of the objects, as well as observation with ultraviolet light. Of thousands of ivory objects examined at the Lab, the author has observed unusual non-Proboscidean (elephant) objects with Schreger-like (cross-hatched) pattern.
