Psychedelics can profoundly alter cognition and consciousness. Their use in Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq, is ambiguous. We aim to investigate psychedelic awareness and use among Iraqi and Polish medical students.

We aim to review the literature and explore the spatial-temporal mapping of online search behavior concerning DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, and the Colorado River toad via Google Trends over the past 10 years (2012-2022) while using 5 search terms: ",-dimethyltryptamine", "5-methoxy-,-dimethyltryptamine", "5-MeO-DMT", "Colorado River toad", and "Sonoran Desert toad".

Helping Women Suffering from Drug Addiction: Needs, Barriers, and Challenges.

Statistical data on the use of various psychoactive substances indicate a narrowing of previous differences in substance use between men and women. Data from studies conducted among women suffering from drug addiction are increasingly published, with the authors highlighting the specific needs of this group and the difficulties that women with addiction problems encounter. The current study aimed to identify the barriers and needs of this audience, both when seeking help and during treatment.

Spatiotemporal Mapping of Online Interest in Cannabis and Popular Psychedelics before and during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Poland.

Background: Psychedelics represent a unique subset of psychoactive substances that can induce an aberrant state of consciousness principally via the neuronal 5-HT2A receptor. There is limited knowledge concerning the interest in these chemicals in Poland and how they changed during the pandemic. Nonetheless, these interests can be surveyed indirectly via the web.

Representations of Psychoactive Drugs' Use in Mass Culture and Their Impact on Audiences.

Drug use has been increasing worldwide over recent decades. Apart from the determinants of drug initiation established in numerous studies, the authors wish to draw attention to other equally important factors, which may contribute to augmenting this phenomenon. The article aims to draw attention to the content of mass culture, especially representations of drug use in mass media, which may influence the liberalization of attitudes towards drugs and their use.

[Effect of pre-surgical stress on recovery of patients undergoing hip replacement procedures].

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of emotional stress experienced by patients prior to surgery on the process of post-surgical recovery. The study covered 50 hospitalised patients (31 women and 19 men) who underwent hip replacement procedures. The research relied on STAI-X1 anxiety questionnaire, as well as a specially prepared survey and the analysis of medical documentation.

[The sense of coherence and the quality of life of patients treated for breast cancer].

For women, breast cancer causes great mental stress and affects their functioning in the somatic and psychosocial domain both during the process of diagnostics and therapy, and for a long period of time after the received treatment. A high sense of coherence leads to being better at coping with stress and a can promote the quality of life. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the sense of coherence on the satisfaction with life of post-mastectomy patients, and also on the time which passes between noticing the first symptoms of the disease and reporting to a doctor, and on the timely execution of medical recommendations.

Transcatheter closure of patent foramen ovale using the internal jugular venous approach.

Transcatheter closure of patent foramen ovale is routinely performed using the transfemoral approach, which is safe and technically easy. Our case represents the rare situation where the procedure needs to be performed using the right internal jugular venous approach. According to our best knowledge this is the first report of a patent foramen ovale closure procedure with access through the internal jugular with necessity to advance the guide wire and transseptal sheath into the left ventricle.

[Rare case of haemangioma of the pharynx].

The hemangioma is a benign tumour located mostly in the region of head and neck. It can appear at any age but especially it is diagnosed among children. The disease can be successfully treated with surgery, criotherapy, propranolol or endovascular procedures.

[A case of parapharyngeal schwannoma (neurilemmoma) with thrombophlebitis coexisting].

The Schwannoma of parapharyngeal space is uncommon tumor. The autors described a rare case of the schwannoma located in parapharyngeal space in 45-year-old man, with trombophlebitis coexciting. The tumor was removed trough the cervical approach.

[A neck chemodectoma--survey of literature and description of one case of malignant chemodectoma].

Neck tumors are one of the most difficult diagnostic and therapeutic problems of the contemporary otolaryngology. Therapeutic success mainly depends on early and exact diagnosis. The goal of the study is to pay attention to the necessity of careful diagnosis and introducing computer tomography (CT) as a standard of neck tumors treatment procedure in order not to miss exceptionally rarely neck chemodectoma and to plan treatment process properly.

[Malignant transformation of giant jugular chemodectoma].

Chemodectoma is a very rare neoplasm classified on the border of the benign and malignant tumours. A case of a large paraganglioma was presented. The method of choice in treatment these tumors should consist of surgery and radiation therapy postoperatively.
