Background: Chemotherapy has a substantial role in decreasing the risk of recurrence and mortality in breast cancer (BC) in a dose-dependent manner where a low relative dose intensity (RDI) is associated with unfavorable outcomes. Several baseline clinicopathological factors, including pro-inflammatory biomarkers, were found to be significant determinants of low RDI. This study aimed to explore the occurrence of low RDI and its influencing factors in women with BC.

Purpose: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) poses a substantial challenge in breast cancer (BC) chemotherapy, affecting the patient's quality of life. Recent studies have focused on exploring predictors and patterns of CIPN occurrence. We aimed to develop a prediction model for CIPN occurrence using a classification and regression tree (CART) algorithm.

Background: Early colorectal cancer (CRC) symptom recognition and prompt diagnosis are crucial for the identification of cases in the earliest stage and for improving survival. This study investigates the incidence of presentation and diagnosis delays, their contributing determinants and their impact on the cancer stage at diagnosis.

Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited 227 CRC patients between November 2022 and October 2023.

Introduction:  One of the etiologies of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is chronic infection related to lymphoma pathogenesis, with a high prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection seen. In determining the treatment and prognosis of NHL, cluster of differentiation 30 (CD30) immunohistochemical staining plays an important role. High levels of CD30 are found in patients with HCV infection.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) faces low response rates to anti-PD-1 immunotherapies, highlighting the need for enhanced treatment strategies. Auranofin, which inhibits thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) through its gold-based composition, has shown potential in cancer treatment. It targets the TrxR system, essential for safeguarding cells from oxidative stress.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced neutropenia (CIN) is a substantial side effect in chemotherapy of breast cancer patients. Administration of granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) that may reduce CIN occurrence is not commonly available to many local cases.

Objectives: To investigate the occurrence of grade 4 CIN and the influencing factors in breast cancer patients not receiving G-CSF prophylaxis.

Objective: This study aims to characterize patient-reported chemotherapy-induced toxicity in patients with breast cancer, determine its association with treatment regimens and patient characteristics, identify toxicity symptom clusters within a specific chemotherapy timeframe and analyze the correlation between symptom clusters within and between the timeframe to understand the changes and influences across chemotherapy.

Methods: Forty-six patient-reported toxicities during neoadjuvant/adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer were evaluated using adapted CTCAE version 4.0.

Background: There are correlations between tumor staging, lymph node involvement, and patient survival in Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) which is one of the most common types of cancer in Indonesia.  The inflammation process plays a role in tumor progression over the long term and this marked by increased proinflammatory cytokine and gene overexpression. This study aims to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in NPC using T and N staging.

Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) cases are often diagnosed in advanced stages. The complexity of clinical management for advanced-stage NPC requires thorough communication and shared decisions between medical professionals and allied teams. Incorporating a multidisciplinary team meeting (MDTM) for newly diagnosed NPC patients was chosen to facilitate collaboration and communication between physicians.

Introduction Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is a common and debilitating adverse effect of breast cancer chemotherapy. The incidence of CINV in the first cycle of chemotherapy is essential, as it sets the tone for anticipatory CINV and the overall patients' treatment experience. We aimed to investigate the risk factors of first cycle CINV in breast cancer patients and to develop a classification and regression tree (CART) model to predict its occurrence.

Unlabelled: Background/ Objective: Myelofibrosis (MF) is a severe form of Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs). It is a rare disease in Indonesia and is reportedly associated with symptoms resulting in poor quality-of-life, pre-mature mortality, disability, and loss of productivity. As the disease is rare, there are limited published information around MF, particularly in Indonesia.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to assess the prognostic role of vimentin in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients, focusing on how it relates to chemotherapy types and p53 mutant expression.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from 72 TNBC patients over 48 months, finding that vimentin expression was linked to better overall survival, particularly in those receiving non-platinum-based chemotherapy and those with p53 mutations.
  • - The results suggested that while vimentin was generally associated with improved survival rates, its significance varied based on the chemotherapy regimen and the presence of p53 mutations.

Article Synopsis
  • * Common symptoms included vaginal dryness (45.9%), decreased libido (45.2%), and dyspareunia (13.3%), with symptoms worsening during chemotherapy and lasting up to six months post-treatment.
  • * Factors like longer chemotherapy duration and certain characteristics of the spouse and patient (age, weight) were linked to higher risks of specific sexual dysfunctions.

Double-hit lymphoma (DHL) is an aggressive subset of Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) with poor outcomes and without satisfying treatment options. BTK inhibitor monotherapy is ineffective to suppress aggressive lymphoma. Hence, combination with other potential agents is warranted.

Transient pancytopenia due to reactive bone marrow suppression often occurs in hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a syndrome resulting from excessive immune activation following a severe infection. We reported two cases with pancytopenia and disseminated histoplasmosis accompanied by HLH, initially suspected to be blood malignancies. Our first case documented the relevance between the improvement of pancytopenia and the clearance of Histoplasma capsulatum in serial bone marrow aspirations.

Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome have been associated with cardiovascular, diabetes and cancer incidence. Obesity is a state of inflammation. There are cross-talks between adipocyte, adipokines, pro-inflammatory cytokines, insulin, leptin, and other growth factors to initiate signals for proliferation, anti-apoptosis, and angiogenesis.
