Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has become the standard treatment for patients with invasive breast cancer. Intra-operative frozen section allows for the detection of nodal metastases, thereby allowing a simultaneous axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) for those patients with nodal metastases.
