Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a devastating disease with poor patient survival. As targetable mutations in AML are rare, novel oncogenic mechanisms are needed to define new therapeutic targets. We identified AML cells that exhibit an aberrant pool of nuclear glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β).

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective multicenter study (PEnile Cancer ADherence study, PECAD Study) on PC patients treated at 12 European and American centers between 2010 and 2016. Adherence to the EAU GL on the surgical management of the primary penile tumor and lymphadenectomy was evaluated.
The bioaccessibility of phenolics and antioxidant activity were determined in açaí, cupuaçu, blackberry, blueberry, jabuticaba, raspberry, cajá and soursop frozen pulps (FPs) using a digestion model coupled with a simulated intestinal barrier. Cyanidin 3-glucoside (6.56%) and pelargonidin 3-glucoside (28.

However, such methods are not always applicable; therefore, it is necessary to consider several aspects, such as sex, age, and ethnicity of the studied population to generate these equations. This study aimed to compare and validate methods of estimating the height of the Brazilian elderly nursing home residents.

In parallel, many breast reconstruction techniques have been proposed for patients requiring mastectomy with loss of the nipple-areola complex (NAC). Myocutaneous flaps were once the most common form of reconstruction, but recently the use of implants and nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) in one or two stages has gained popularity.

The phenolic profile and antioxidant activity (AOX) of "organic vs. conventional" Brazilian wines and grape juices were analyzed. A simple method for the determination of minerals Cu, Fe and Mn by F-AAS was validated and used to characterize the samples studied.

Novel agents given as maintenance or preemptive post transplant were discussed at the 3 International Workshop on Biology, Prevention, and Treatment of Relapse after Stem Cell Transplantation in Hamburg/Germany in November 2016 under the auspices of EBMT and ASBMT. Maintenance therapy is started after SCT without detectable disease, while preemptive therapy is triggered by the detection of minimal residual disease (MRD).

Injectable azacitidine can improve post-transplant outcomes but presents challenges with exposure and compliance. Oral CC-486 allows extended dosing to prolong azacitidine activity.

Given the gonadotoxicity of high-dose induction chemotherapy and subsequent allogeneic stem cell transplant, it is paramount that fertility preservation options are discussed and explored at the time of diagnosis as fertility preservation has been associated with greater quality of life in survivors. Starting the conversation early is especially important for female patients given the time needed for all currently available fertility preservation techniques.

Use of haploidentical (mismatched) donors increases HSCT availability but is limited by severe graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and delayed immune reconstitution. Alloanergization of donor T cells is a simple approach to rebuild immunity while limiting GvHD after haploidentical HSCT, but the optimal T-cell dose and impact on immune reconstitution remain unknown.

Materials And Methods: We analyzed the medical charts of 74 Hodgkin lymphoma patients who underwent F-FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) prior to the initiation of therapy between October 2010 and September 2013. In all of the patients, the bone marrow biopsy was negative and the F-FDG PET/CT images did not suggest bone marrow involvement.
We investigated the impact of donor-recipient HLA-DPB1 matching on outcomes of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with in vivo T-cell depletion using antithymocyte globulin (ATG) for patients with hematological malignancies. All donor-recipient pairs had high-resolution typing for HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, HLA-DRB1, HLA-DQB1, HLA-DPB1, and HLA-DRB3/4/5 and were matched at HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, and HLA-DRB1. HLA-DPB1 mismatches were categorized by immunogenicity of the DPB1 matching using the DPB T-cell epitope tool.

Methods: The radiographs of 19 patients (21 hips), who underwent revision of total hip arthroplasty using trabecular metal wedges from September 2010 to December 2014 were evaluated. This study included only cases of Paprosky 3A and 3B.

During such expansion, NK cells are increasingly activated and more efficient at killing cancer cells. Adoptive transfer however introduces these activated cells into a highly immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment mediated in part by excessive transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) from both cancer cells and their surrounding stroma.

Findings from the study showed clinically important adverse events (AEs) associated with InO, with veno-occlusive disease (VOD) reported as a major non-hematologic AE. Other important or serious AEs include neutropenia, febrile neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, infusion-related reactions, tumor lysis syndrome, and prolonged QT syndrome.

This analysis initially included 181 patients, 60 who received a CD34 cell-selected transplant and 121 who received an unmodified transplant. Owing to significant differences in disease characteristics, the analysis was limited to patients with <10% blasts before HSCT (n = 145).

Patients with high-risk disease often suffer from early relapse and short survival. Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is an "immune-based" therapy that has the potential to offer long-term remission in a subgroup of patients, at the expense of high rates of transplant-related morbidity and mortality.

Gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity is the main cause of morbidity after HDM. Amifostine, a cytoprotective agent, may reduce HDM-associated GI toxicity.

Based on previous results, we assumed that pioneer tree species are potentially more tolerant against environmental oxidative stress than non-pioneer tree species from that Brazilian biome. We also assumed that reactive oxygen species (ROS) are accumulated in higher proportions in leaves of non-pioneer trees, resulting in changes in the oxidant-antioxidant balance and in more severe oxidative damage at the cellular level than in the leaves of pioneer trees.

Patients with advanced stage III/IV ENKL and relapsed refractory ENKL have a poor prognosis even despite aggressive therapy and stem cell transplantation (SCT). We conducted a review of the management of 37 patients with advanced-stage and relapsed/refractory ENKL in a predominantly non-Asian cohort evaluating both chemotherapy and SCT outcomes.
