Bamboo is a highly sustainable plant with a wide variety of leaves, yet little is known about its bioactive composition. Therefore, this study aims to characterize the phenolic profile and antioxidant capacity of 11 different varieties of bamboo leaves using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. As a result, 81 phenolic compounds were tentatively identified, 29 of which were identified for the first time in the literature for bamboo leaves.

Guabijú (Myrcianthes pungens) is a Brazilian native fruit from the Myrtaceae family, with few studies on the presence of phenolic compounds. Free, esterified, glycosylated, and insoluble phenolic compounds were studied for the first time in guabijú peel, pulp, and seed, by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-QTOF-MS/MS and LC-ESI-QqQ-MS/MS). Eighty-one phenolic compounds were tentatively identified in the three fractions, and eighteen were quantified using authentic standards.

Objective: To assess the influence of Roux-en-Y gastric by-pass (RYGB) on fecal bile acid (BA) profile and its relationship with postoperative remission of type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Methods: Fecal samples were collected 3 and 12 months after RYGB from diabetic obese women who were responsive (n = 12) and non-responsive (n = 8) to postoperative remission of T2D. Fecal BA profile was accessed by liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry in a targeted approach.
