In full-arch implant rehabilitations, when the anterior screw abutment channel compromises the aesthetic of the patient, the OT-Bridge system used with its Seeger rings may provide the necessary retention of the prosthesis. However, no studies have evaluated the forces generated at the Seeger level during loading. This Finite Element Analysis aims to investigate the mechanical behavior of Seeger rings in a mandibular model with four implants and an OT-Bridge system, used without one or two anterior prosthetic screws.

This prospective registry-based study aims to describe electrochemotherapy (ECT) modalities in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) patients and evaluate its efficacy, safety, and predictive factors. The International Network for Sharing Practices of Electrochemotherapy (InspECT) multicentre database was queried for BCC cases treated with bleomycin-ECT between 2008 and 2019 (n = 330 patients from seven countries, with 623 BCCs [median number: 1/patient; range: 1-7; size: 13 mm, range: 5-350; 85% were primary, and 80% located in the head and neck]). The procedure was carried out under local anaesthesia in 68% of cases, with the adjunct of mild sedation in the remaining 32%.

The treatment of cutaneous and subcutaneous localizations from breast cancer (BC) is still a therapeutic challenge. Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is one of the available options, and it is characterized by the association between the administration of a chemotherapic agent (Bleomycin) with the temporary raise of permeability of the cellular membrane induced by the local administration of electrical impulses (electroporation). ECT represents an effective therapy for loco-regional control of this disease.

A 54-year-old lady was referred to our institute because of a massive thoracic neoplasm arising from the thoracic wall which infiltrated and dislocated the left breast. Twenty years before, the patient had undergone a quadrantectomy with axillary dissection for an infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the left breast, followed by adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy. A true-cut biopsy of the mass showed a low differentiated malignant neoplasm with spindle-shaped cells.

Mesenteric vein thrombosis (MVT) is a rare condition, often misdiagnosed due to its vague and misleading clinical presentation. It can cause intestinal infarction, peritonitis, and consequently necessitate bowel resection. CT scanning with intravenous contrast enhancement is the gold standard for its diagnosis.

Treatment of superficial tumors with electrochemotherapy (ECT) has shown a steep rise over the past decade and indications range from skin cancers to locally advanced or metastatic neoplasms. Based on reversible electroporation, which is a physical method to achieve transient tumor cell membrane permeabilization by means of short electric pulses, ECT increases cellular uptake of bleomycin and cisplatin and their cytotoxicity by 8,000- and 80-fold, respectively. Standard operating procedures were established in 2006 and updated in 2018.

Background: Electrochemotherapy (ECT) is currently used to treat unresectable superficial tumours of different histotypes through the combination of cytotoxic chemotherapy and local application of electric pulses. In 2006, a collaborative project defined the ESOPE (European Standard Operating Procedures of Electrochemotherapy) guidelines to standardize the procedure. The International Network for Sharing Practices of Electrochemotherapy (InspECT) aims to refine the ESOPE and improve clinical practice.

Background: Electrochemotherapy (ECT), by combining manageable cytotoxic agents with short electric pulses, represents an effective palliative skin-directed therapy. The accumulated evidence indicates that ECT stands out as a safe and well-tolerated alternative treatment for patients with multiple or large basal cell carcinoma (BCC), who are not suitable for conventional treatments. However, long-term data and shared indications are lacking.

Electrochemotherapy (ECT) has emerged among European centers as an innovative locoregional treatment for patients with unresectable skin cancers or superficial metastases from any histotype. The combined administration of a cytotoxic agent (bleomycin or cisplatin) with properly tuned electric pulses results in locally-enhanced drug delivery (reversible electroporation) into malignant cells and sustained tumor response. Reversible electroporation represents the basis of ECT and allows the potentiation of two low permeant cytotoxic agents such as bleomycin (~8000 fold) and cisplatin (~80 fold).

Axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) in patients with ductal carcinoma in situ with microinvasion (DCISM) of the breast was controversial, because of the relevant morbidity incurred by the procedure and the low incidence of axillary involvement. The introduction of the sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy as a minimally invasive procedure for axillary staging has prompted new interest in this issue. However, as DCISM is a rare type of cancer, data on the incidence of SLN metastasis are scarce.

Background: Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy is an effective tool for axillary staging in patients with invasive breast cancer. This procedure has been recently proposed as part of the treatment for patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), because cases of undetected invasive foci and nodal metastases occasionally occur. However, the indications for SLN biopsy in DCIS patients are controversial.

The distribution of the main prognostic factors in different age groups was evaluated in 1226 patients operated on for primary breast cancer, in order to identify those influenced by age and/or menopausal status. Patients were divided into the following groups: 1) 40 years of age and under; 2) premenopausal over 40 years of age; 3) postmenopausal under 75 years of age and 4) 75 years of age and over. Our findings showed that the youngest patients had the worst prognostic pattern, which improves as age increases and is the best in patients over 75 years of age.
