The aim of the present study was to analyze the effects of visual morphological classification based on body structure, maturity, and musculosity on the morphometry of the reproduction system and productive parameters of beef heifers. The study was conducted for 84 days, during winter season in Brazil. Thirty non-pregnant Nellore heifers, with an average body weight 338 kg and average age 18 months, were used for the study.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of phospholipase C (PLC) on the capacitation of cryopreserved ovine semen. Sixteen semen samples were cryopreserved with diluent added by 0, 10, or 20 μM of U73122, a PLC inhibitor. The sperm kinetics of the thawed samples were evaluated using the "Computer-assisted Sperm Analysis" system, and the integrity of the plasma and mitochondrial membranes was evaluated using fluorescent probes.

The parabasalid Pentatrichomonas hominis is generally considered to represent a symbiotic component of the gastrointestinal microbiota in a wide variety of vertebrate hosts including humans. Nevertheless, a limited number of studies have raised the possibility that it may act as a pathogen of humans, dogs, and pigs and that some human infections may have a zoonotic origin. Data from North America revealed an association between P.

The present study compared the outcomes of in vivo embryo production in Morada Nova ewes subjected to either 9-day (G-9 , n = 21) or 12-day (G-12 , n = 21) progesterone (P )-based estruses synchronization protocol coupled with superovulatory treatment with decreasing doses of porcine follicle-stimulating hormone (133 mg of pFSH given over 3 days). Non-surgical embryo recovery (NSER) was performed 6-7 days after the onset of oestrus. Total antral follicle count doubled from the first to the sixth pFSH dose in both groups (p < .

This study assessed the feasibility of embryo production and nonsurgical embryo recovery (NSER) in Morada Nova ewes (an endangered native Brazilian breed of sheep) subjected to different estrus synchronization and/or superovulation protocols. Ewes received intravaginal sponges soaked with 60 mg medroxyprogesterone acetate (MAP), which were kept in place for six (G6;  = 12), nine (G9;  = 12), or 12 (G12;  = 12) days. Half of the ewes in each group remained estrus synchronized only () and the other half was superovulated () with 133 mg porcine follicle-stimulating hormone (pFSH).

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of zearalenone (ZEA) on the reproductive system morphometry, oestrogen (E2) levels and oocyte quality of beef heifers. Twenty non-pregnant purebred Nellore (Bos indicus) heifers [age, ≥18 months; initial body weight, 348 ± 30 kg (mean ± standard deviation)] were used. The animals were randomly divided into experimental group and a control group of 10 animals each.

The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship among functional traits (age at first calving (AFC), calving interval (CI), reproductive efficiency (RE), total milk yield (TMY), and lactation period (LP)) in Red Sindhi breed through multivariate techniques. For this goal, performance data provided by the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders related to 560 Red Sindhi dairy cattle from 28 different herds in Brazil, born in the period from 1987 to 2011, were used. Principal component analysis with correlation matrix was used to find the relationship among AFC, CI, RE, TMY, and LP.
