Objectives Diaphragmatic hernias (DHs) in adults are an uncommon condition in which general characteristics and treatment strategies are poorly described. The objective of this study was to describe our institutional experience in the surgical repair of DH in adult patients. Methods A cross-sectional review was conducted on adult patients with DH who were diagnosed and surgically treated between 2012 and 2023 at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias in Mexico City.

Predictive accuracy of treatment recommendations is a historical limitation. Our objective was to validate and compare TLICS, TL AOSIS, and a modified TLICS (mTLICS) that awards 2 points for the presence of fractured vertebral body height loss >50% and/or spinal canal stenosis >50% at the fracture site.

The management of this pathology is challenging, but recent advances have been made to achieve standardization that can help diagnosis and decision-making. However, we are unaware of studies validating these models in Latin America.

Four toxins typically encountered in Portuguese waters, namely saxitoxin, decarbamoyl saxitoxin, gonyautoxin GTX5 and C1&C2, were selected for the study. A series of miniaturized sensors with solid inner contact and plasticized polyvinylchloride membranes containing ionophores, nine compositions in total, were prepared and their characteristics evaluated.

Somatic embryogenesis has been shown to be an efficient tool for studying processes based on cell growth and development. The fine regulation of the cell cycle is essential for proper embryo formation during the process of somatic embryogenesis. The aims of the present work were to identify and perform a structural and functional characterization of Mps1 and to analyze the effects of the inhibition of this protein on cellular growth and pro-embryogenic mass (PEM) morphology in embryogenic cultures of A.

In plants, protein kinases have been shown to participate in signaling cascades driving responses to environmental stimuli and developmental processes. Plant meristems are undifferentiated tissues that provide the major source of cells that will form organs throughout development.
