Background And Aim: The involvement of mucosa associated lymphoid tissues (MALT) in the development of an autoimmune response in the skin is unclear and unstudied. In this study we sought to assess the relationship between removal of MALT tissues (MALTectomy) and the risk of development of psoriasis (overall or moderate-to-severe).
Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study based on E3N, a French cohort composed of 98 995 women born between 1925 and 1950 and insured by the health insurance of the national education system (MGEN).
Photo-driven cross-coupling of o-arylenediamines and alcohols has emerged as an alternative for the synthesis of bio-active benzimidazoles. However, tackling the key problem related to efficient adsorption and activation of both coupling partners over photocatalysts towards activity enhancement remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate an efficient interface synergy strategy by coupling exposed oxygen vacancies (V) and Pd Lewis acid sites for benzimidazole and hydrogen (H) coproduction over Pd-loaded TiO nanospheres with the highest photoredox activity compared to previous works so far.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLight-driven photoredox catalysis presents a promising approach for the activation and conversion of methane (CH) into high value-added chemicals under ambient conditions. However, the high C-H bond dissociation energy of CH and the absence of well-defined C-H activation sites on catalysts significantly limit the highly efficient conversion of CH toward multicarbon (C) hydrocarbons, particularly ethylene (CH). Herein, we demonstrate a bimetallic design of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) and Pd single atoms (SAs) on ZnO for the cascade conversion of CH into CH with the highest production rate compared with previous works.

We conducted a systematic review on endemic systemic mycoses reported in Italy from 1914 to nowadays. We found out: 105 cases of histoplasmosis, 15 of paracoccidioidomycosis, 10 of coccidioidomycosis, 10 of blastomycosis and 3 of talaromycosis.

Here, we demonstrate a conceptually new radical route for the high-performance photoredox coupling of alcohols and diamines to synthesize benzimidazoles along with stoichiometric hydrogen (H ) over Pd-decorated ultrathin ZnO nanosheets (Pd/ZnO NSs). The mechanistic study reveals the unique advantage of ZnO NSs over other supports and particularly that the features of Pd nanoparticles in facilitating the cleavage of the α-C-H bond of alcohols and adsorbing subsequently-generated C-centered radicals hold the key to turning on the reaction.

More attention was focused on Isavuconazole activity, given the new introduction of the drug in widely distributed antifungal susceptibilities methods in the clinical microbiology lab.

Merging hydrogen (H) evolution with oxidative organic synthesis in a semiconductor-mediated photoredox reaction is extremely attractive because the clean H fuel and high-value chemicals can be coproduced under mild conditions using light as the sole energy input. Following this dual-functional photocatalytic strategy, a dreamlike reaction pathway for constructing C-C/C-X (X = C, N, O, S) bonds from abundant and readily available X-H bond-containing compounds with concomitant release of H can be readily fulfilled without the need of external chemical reagents, thus offering a green and fascinating organic synthetic strategy. In this review, we begin by presenting a concise overview on the general background of traditional photocatalytic H production and then focus on the fundamental principles of cooperative photoredox coupling of selective organic synthesis and H production by simultaneous utilization of photoexcited electrons and holes over semiconductor-based catalysts to meet the economic and sustainability goal.

Although streptococcal bone and joint infections are less common than staphylococcal cases, their role as causative agents of bone and joint remains significant accounting for at least 10% of PJIs. Streptococcus anginosus group (SAG) bacteria are usually found in the normal flora of the urogenital tract, intestinal tract and oropharynx and could cause pyogenic infections to affect brain, lungs and liver.

By harnessing the regulatory effects of adenosine on inflammatory mediators, we have instituted a new therapeutic treatment with inhaled adenosine in COVID-19 patients, with the aim of reducing inflammation, the onset of cytokine storm, and therefore to improve prognosis. The use of inhaled adenosine in COVID19 patients has allowed reduction of length of stay, on average 6 days.

Methods: We conducted a drug utilization study with a propensity score-matched design using the administrative databases of the Italian Tuscany region. New users of ASMs during 2015 with no history of neoplasia were considered and their first prescription was classified as: available only as branded (only-B-ASM); branded with generic available (B-ASM); and generic (G-ASM).
The exceptional pandemic due to the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has obliged all Italians to stay at home. In the literature, there are evidences that traumatic global events, such as natural catastrophes and pandemic, have negative effects on the physical and psychological health of the population. We carried out a survey to analyze the physical and psychological conditions of Italians during the pandemic.

Herein, we report the rational assembly of a series of transition metal hydroxides on graphene to act as a cocatalyst ensemble for efficient CO photoreduction. In particular, with the Ru-dye as visible light photosensitizer, hierarchical Ni(OH) nanosheet arrays-graphene (Ni(OH)-GR) composites exhibit superior photoactivity and selectivity, which remarkably surpass other counterparts and most of analogous hybrid photocatalyst system.

Considering the severity of the disease and the lack of active treatments, 14 patients with Covid-19 and severe lung inflammation received inhaled adenosine in the attempt to therapeutically compensate for the oxygen-related loss of the endogenous adenosine→A2A adenosine receptor (A2AR)-mediated mitigation of the lung-destructing inflammatory damage. This off label-treatment was based on preclinical studies in mice with LPS-induced ARDS, where inhaled adenosine/A2AR agonists protected oxygenated lungs from the deadly inflammatory damage.

Interestingly, Ag/MgO was capable of a conversion comparable to current industrial routes of approximately 5 %, and with a high selectivity (up to 60 %) to cyclohexanol, thus making Ag/MgO an attractive system for the synthesis of intermediates for the manufacture of nylon fibres. Furthermore, following the doping of Ag nanoparticles with Pd, the conversion increased up to 10 % whilst simultaneously preserving a high selectivity to the alcohol.

The activation and use of oxygen for the oxidation and functionalization of organic substrates are among the most important reactions in a chemist's toolbox. Nevertheless, despite the vast literature on catalytic oxidation, the phenomenon of autoxidation, an ever-present background reaction that occurs in virtually every oxidation process, is often neglected. In contrast, autoxidation can affect the selectivity to a desired product, to those dictated by pure free-radical chain pathways, thus affecting the activity of any catalyst used to carry out a reaction.

This involved reacting MnSO4⋅H2O and (NH4)2S2O8 at 120 °C for a range of crystallisation times, which affords control over the morphology and phase composition of the MnO2 formed. Gold was deposited on these supports using sol-immobilisation, impregnation and deposition precipitation methods, and the resultant materials were used for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol and carbon monoxide.
