Introduction: Bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BHA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA) are validated treatments for displaced femoral neck fractures (DFNFs). BHA seldomly needs conversion to THA, but the latter has higher dislocation rate in FNFs. Dual Mobility THA offers a reduced dislocation rate and eliminates the risk of conversion.

Iatrogenic intraprosthetic dislocation after closed reduction of dual mobility total hip arthroplasty: Report of two cases.

Introduction: Among hip arthroplasty, dual mobility aims to improve ROM and reduce dislocation rates, however this particular implant can fail in specific ways. Iatrogenic intraprosthetic dislocation (IPD) is a rare occurrence that can happen during closed reduction of a dislocated dual mobility total hip arthroplasty.

Can Elastosonography Be Useful in Improving Diagnosis and Prognosis of Acute Muscle Injuries?

 The objective of this study was to investigate the ability of elastosonography (USE) in the identification of different grades of muscular injuries, comparing its effectiveness with traditional ultrasound (US) survey and by relating the results to the clinical classification of muscular pain.  In the period between August 2014 and May 2016, we conducted a prospective cohort study on a population of 34 young male professional athletes belonging to the same under-17 football club (Ancona 1905). Injuries were recorded according to location, type, mechanism, recurrence, and whether they occurred with or without contact.

Treatment of pseudoarthrosis after minimally invasive hallux valgus correction.

Objective: Treatment of mild and moderate hallux valgus deformities.

Discussion: Minimally invasive technique enables surgeons to treat mild and moderate hallux valgus deformities with excellent and good results in the majority of patients. Nonunion of first metatarsal, moreover, has only rarely been reported.

Chopart arthrodesis with graft bone from the iliac crest after a traumatic subamputation of the forefoot: surgical technique.

We present a 49-year-old man with a traumatic subamputation of the forefoot, associated with lacerated wound in correspondence of the dorsal surface of the right foot, with injuries of tendinous, ligamentous and vascular structures and with the loss of talus head. The patient underwent salvage arthrodesis of the talonavicular and calcanealcuboid joints with graft bone harvested from the iliac crest. The patient was re-evaluated during a clinical and radiographic follow-up.

The effects of growth factors on skeletal muscle lesions.

Skeletal muscle injuries are common causes of severe long-term pain and physical disability, accounting for up to 55% of all sports injuries. The phases of the healing process after direct or indirect muscle injury are complex but clearly defined processes comprising well-coordinated steps: degeneration, inflammation, regeneration, and fibrosis. Despite this frequent occurrence and the presence of a body of data on the pathophysiology of muscle injuries, none of the treatment strategies adopted to date have been shown to be really effective in strictly controlled trials.
