Background: The Italian Society of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging (SIECVI) conducted a national survey to understand better how different echocardiographic modalities are used and accessed in Italy.
Methods: We analyzed echocardiography laboratory activities over a month (November 2022). Data were retrieved via an electronic survey based on a structured questionnaire, uploaded on the SIECVI website.
Postmenopausal women have more severe endothelial dysfunction than premenopausal women. In the present study, we evaluated the possible beneficial effect of raloxifene administration, a selective estrogen receptor modulator, on endothelial regulation in postmenopausal women. In a double-blind, randomized vs.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAging, oxidative stress and insulin resistance are strongly correlated. There is a growing body of evidence showing that aging is associated with a significant rise in oxidative stress mainly due to a decline in anti-oxidant activity and a rise in pro-oxidant factors such as glucose and insulin concentrations. Furthermore, aging is also associated with a progressive rise in insulin resistance which is due to a complex network of environmental, anthropometric and neuro-hormonal factors.

Design: Randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
Setting: University hospital.
Objective: Recent studies have demonstrated that C-peptide exerts beneficial effects on the diabetic state, including improvements in kidney and nerve function. Thus, we investigated the effect of residual pancreatic C-peptide secretion on the cardiac autonomic nervous system in well- and poorly controlled type II diabetic patients.
Design: Randomised cross-sectional study.
