Introduction: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a disease where retinal blood vessels do not develop normally and may cause visual damage and blindness.
Objective: To determine the frequency and severity of ROP in preterm newborns.
Method: A descriptive, comparative study was carried out within the 2009-2013 period.
Background: Corneal transplantation is one of the surgical procedures most frequently performed worldwide and with better prognosis. Among its main indications include: keratoconus, bullous keratopathy, previous graft rejection, corneal dystrophy, and infection. The known risk factors for graft rejection are: recipient's age, presence of vessels in the recipient cornea, intraocular pressure, and retransplantation.
