Introduction: Outcomes of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) have improved with antiretroviral therapy (ART). However, whether the outcomes have improved in low- and middle-income countries, paralleling those of high-income countries is unknown. The objective of this study was to describe a cohort of HIV-infected patients admitted to ICU in a middle-income country and identify the risk factors associated with mortality.

However, directly achieving a patterned growth of TMDC films is still considered to be challenging. Here, we report a solution-based approach for the synthesis of patterned MoS layers by dragging a precursor solution droplet with variable velocities across a substrate.

We discuss the co-existence of various possible growth mechanisms, involving solid-gas and vapor-gas reactions. Different sequences were applied in order to control the growth mechanism and to obtain monolayer films.

Methods: Noncomparative, interventional, and consecutive case series from 6 vitreoretinal surgical centers from 2007 to 2015.
Purpose: Idiopathic macular telangiectasia type 2 (IMT2) is a bilateral acquired maculopathy, with a spectrum of clinical presentations associated with inner retinal telangiectatic vascular anomalies. Cases often are underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Current diagnostic modalities such as spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and fluorescein angiography (FA) are valuable to the understanding of the clinicopathology.

Background And Objective: To evaluate clinical and optical coherence tomography (OCT) outcomes of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for patients with vitreomacular traction (VMT).
Patients And Methods: Noncomparative, interventional, consecutive case series from 2007 to 2014.
Results: Of the 37 study eyes, patients were grouped according to the extent of VMT evident on OCT.
Importance: To describe a cohort of patients with birdshot chorioretinopathy who did not manifest birdshot lesions on clinical examination but had retinal vasculitis, low-grade to moderate vitritis, and hypocyanescent lesions on indocyanine green angiography (ICGA).
Observations: Case series of 3 patients with mild to moderate vitritis and retinal vasculitis without definite birdshot lesions on clinical examination evaluated from January 2007 to December 2014 at 4 academic ophthalmology centers. All patients' results were positive for human leukocyte antigen-A29.
Purpose: To evaluate management strategies and outcomes for patients with giant retinal tear (GRT)-associated retinal detachment (RD) that had undergone previous pars plana vitrectomy (PPV).
Methods: A noncomparative consecutive case series between January 2005 and July 2010. Patients with a preceding history of PPV undergoing retinal reattachment surgery for GRTs were identified.

Background And Objective: To evaluate etiologies, management, and outcomes for patients with giant retinal tears undergoing initial surgery at a single institution.
Patients And Methods: Noncomparative, retrospective, consecutive case series at a university referral center including 79 eyes of 77 patients.
Results: Blunt trauma constituted 22% of cases.
Background: Patient reported outcome studies are extremely valuable. We hypothesize that breast reduction surgery has a high satisfaction rate, and that body mass index (BMI), and the amount of breast tissue removed would not alter this outcome. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is an improvement in the quality of life in patients undergoing breast reduction surgery, and whether breast volume or patient size influences this outcome.

From the results obtained, it may be concluded that the wine turbidity had an effect on the concentration of many of the oak volatile compounds, especially furanic and phenolic compounds. In all cases the concentrations of furanic aldehydes and vanillin were significantly higher (p < 0.

However, its long-term utilization is limited due to chronic nephrotoxicity for which no prevention is available. This study evaluated the effect of spironolactone on renal functional and structural alterations induced by CsA, and assessed whether the protective effect was associated with a reduction of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) and the change of extracellular matrix protein mRNA level.
