The Role of Caspases in Melanoma Pathogenesis.

Melanoma (malignant melanoma, MM) is an aggressive malignant skin cancer with an increasing incidence rate. The complete pathogenesis of MM in not clear. Due to DNA damage, mutations, dysregulation of growth factors, inactivation of tumor suppressor genes, and activation of oncogenes, excessive uncontrolled growth of abnormal melanocytes occurs in melanomas.

Key Regulators of Angiogenesis and Inflammation Are Dysregulated in Patients with Varicose Veins.

Varicose veins (VVs) are the most common manifestation of chronic venous disease (CVD) and appear as abnormally enlarged and tortuous superficial veins. VVs result from functional abnormalities in the venous circulation of the lower extremities, such as venous hypertension, venous valve incompetence, and venous reflux. Previous studies indicate that enhanced angiogenesis and inflammation contribute to the progression and onset of VVs; however, dysregulations in signaling pathways associated with these processes in VVs patients are poorly understood.

Synthesis and anthelmintic activity of novel thiosemicarbazide and 1,2,4-triazole derivatives: In vitro, in vivo, and in silico study.

Introduction: Intestinal parasitic infections are neglected diseases and, due to the increasing resistance of parasites to available drugs, they pose an increasing therapeutic challenge. Therefore, there is a great need for finding new compounds with antiparasitic activity.

Objectives: In this work, new thiosemicarbazide and 1,2,4-triazole derivatives were synthesized and tested for their anthelmintic activity.

Eye Tracking-An Innovative Tool in Medical Parasitology.

The innovative Eye Movement Modelling Examples (EMMEs) method can be used in medicine as an educational training tool for the assessment and verification of students and professionals. Our work was intended to analyse the possibility of using eye tracking tools to verify the skills and training of people engaged in laboratory medicine on the example of parasitological diagnostics. Professionally active laboratory diagnosticians working in a multi-profile laboratory (non-parasitological) ( = 16), laboratory diagnosticians no longer working in this profession ( = 10), and medical analyst students ( = 56), participated in the study.
