Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most common liver disease worldwide, with an estimated prevalence of 31% in Latin America. The presence of metabolic comorbidities coexisting with liver disease varies substantially among populations. It is acknowledged that obesity is boosting the type 2 diabetes mellitus "epidemic," and both conditions are significant contributors to the increasing number of patients with MASLD.

Purpose: To evaluate the ophthalmologic conditions of patients with AIDS, with long-term follow-up, previously evaluated by an ophthalmologist, considering general conditions related with AIDS.

Methods: Observational study of 42 patients with AIDS divided into two groups: Group I: 8 patients with previous AIDS-related cytomegalovirus retinitis, Group II: 34 patients with AIDS without cytomegalovirus retinitis. Each patient had been submitted to one ophthalmologic examination.

Purpose: To assess the prevalence of the association between thyroid autoimmune dysfunction in patients with and without Graves orbitopathy and non-thyroid autoimmune diseases.

Methods: Retrospective review of the medical records of 254 consecutive patients with thyroid autoimmune disease with (n = 150) and without (n = 104) orbitopathy who had been followed at the same institution by ophthalmologists and general clinicians. All medical records contained information on any systemic diseases of the patients and a detailed description of their eye examinations.
