Palliative and End-of-Life Care Self-perceived Educational Needs of Physicians and Nurses in Rwanda.

Palliative care access is an urgent and ethical imperative to effectively manage the increasing burden of serious health-related suffering worldwide. Understanding the palliative care educational needs of health care professionals is critical to support evidence-based clinical practice in Rwanda and other low- and middle-income countries. A cross-sectional study was conducted at 5 hospitals in Kigali, Rwanda, to assess the palliative/end-of-life educational needs of nurses and physicians.

The Advancement of Palliative Care in Rwanda: Transnational Partnerships and Educational Innovation.

At the heart of palliative care philosophy lies the requisite of expert collaboration across disciplines, specialties, and organizations to provide patient- and family-centered care. When working in a global health setting, myriad interpersonal and cross-cultural considerations must be acknowledged to promote effective communication and coordination between stakeholders. The purpose of this article is to share the experiences of those working to advance palliative care in Rwanda, East Africa, and examine their collective journeys in practice, education, and research.
