[Change in the structure of rat liver mitochondrial membranes under the effect of ionizing radiation].

The effect of gamma-irradiation (under 0-10(3) Gy) on the intensity of lipid peroxidation, the microviscosity of annular and free lipids and the polarization of membrane proteins tryptophan fluorescence was studied in the outer and inner mitochondrial membranes. Some specific individual peculiarities of the mitochondrial membranes post-radiation changes were established.

[Iatrogenic pneumothorax].

The authors observed 32 cases of pneumothorax which developed as a result of doctors' manipulation: after pleural punction (10), hemosorption (5), acupuncture (4), puncture of vena subclavia (8), tracheostomy (2), manual therapy (2), installation of provisional artificial pacemaker (1). Diagnosis of complication was confirmed roentgenologically, nature of lung lesion was specified by thoracoscopy. Pleural punction (in 4 cases) and pleural drainage (in 28) were undertaken for the management of pneumothorax.

[Intravascular laser irradiation of the blood in the combined treatment of chronic suppurative lung diseases].

Intravascular laser irradiation of the blood (ILIB) in the complex of preoperative preparation was employed in 53 patients with chronic pulmonary disease. After performance of 5 ILIB procedures in patients, more rapid normalization of the indices of morphologic composition of gases and acid-base state of the blood, immunologic status of the organism, functions of external respiration was noted as compared to a control group. The incidence of postoperative complications reduced by 4%, duration of hospital stay shortened by 8.

[Diagnosis and treatment of foreign bodies of the lungs and pleural cavity].

The foreign bodies of the lungs and pleural cavity were the cause of non-specific suppurative pulmonary diseases in 0.4% of the patients. They are conditioning pneumonia, blood spitting, pulmonary hemorrhage, circumscribed pleural empyema.
