Introduction: Approximately 70 % of ovarian cancer patients present at diagnosis with advanced disease(AOC) and impaired clinical conditions, making them not ideal surgical candidates. We aimed to investigate whether neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NACT) can modify pre-operative characteristics of patients at high risk(HR) of perioperative complications, as defined in the Mayo Clinic Algorithm. We also compared their morbidity and survival outcomes with comparable HR women undergoing primary surgery (PCS).

Although most female BRCA carriers develop only a single BRCA-associated tumor in their lifetime, a smaller subpopulation is diagnosed with multiple primary tumors (MPTs). The genetic factors influencing this risk remain unclear.

This expansion has led to a rise in the population experiencing platinum-sensitive recurrence, yet data on first recurrence during PARPi are limited. This real-world study from a high-volume referral center aims to elucidate recurrence rates, disease distribution, and treatment modalities at the time of progression in PARPi-treated patients.

Adjuvant chemotherapy is usually recommended for high-grade tumors and for the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage IB-IC; however, overtreatment remains a concern. Conversely, patients truly at higher risk of recurrence currently lack access to additional therapeutic strategies.

Methods And Materials: Patients treated with PARPi in maintenance setting received SBRT if oligometastatic progression occurred. Maintenance treatment was continued until the extensive progression of the disease.
Decades of evidence positioned IL-1β as a master regulatory cytokine in acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. Approved biologics aimed at inhibiting IL-1 signaling have shown efficacy but variable safety. More recently, targeting NLRP3 activation, an upstream mediator of IL-1β, has garnered the most attention.

Within the ovarian cancer treatment algorithm, particularly in the emerging context of PARPi resistance, the role of trabectedin, in combination with pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) still preserves its significance. This paper offers valuable insights into the multifaceted role and mechanism of action of trabectedin in ROC.

Introduction: Relacorilant (CORT125134, Corcept Therapeutics) is a selective glucocorticoid receptor modulator, which reverses the glucocorticoid-mediated anti-apoptotic effects and restores the taxane chemosensitivity in epithelial ovarian cancer cells. Given those preclinical findings, relacorilant is currently under investigation in clinical trials in combination with nab-paclitaxel for the platinum-resistant ovarian cancer setting.
Areas Covered: Already published preclinical and clinical evidence of relacorilant antitumor activity was analyzed and discussed.
Objective: To evaluate disease characteristics and survival according to status, administration of poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi), and surgery in patients with ovarian cancer and brain metastases.
Methods: This is a monocentric retrospective cohort of patients with ovarian cancer and brain metastases treated between 2000 and 2021. Data were collected by a retrospective review of medical records and analyzed according to: (1) mutation; (2) PARPi before and after brain metastases; (3) surgery for brain metastases.
Objective: To investigate the role of BRCA1/2 mutations in early ovarian cancer (eOC) (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics FIGO 2014 stage I-II), and its impact on prognosis after relapse.
Methods: In this multicenter retrospective study, clinical and survival data from high-grade serous (HGS)-eOC patients at presentation and recurrence were compared according to BRCA status: BRCA-mutated (BRCAmut) vs. BRCA wild-type (BRCAwt).
Background: Myogenic temporomandibular disorders (M-TMD) commonly involve occlusal splint (OS) therapy and musculoskeletal physiotherapy (MPT).
Objectives: To compare the effects of combining OS with MPT and education (EG) against OS and education (CG), in chronic M-TMD patients.
Methods: In this double-blind randomised controlled trial, 62 participants were assigned to either EG or CG.
Objective: The study aimed to characterize intra-and postoperative complications according to a standardized anatomo-surgical classification for ovarian cancer metastases in the liver area.
Methods: Data from all patients with advanced ovarian cancer undergoing primary or secondary surgery with perihepatic liver involvement (May-2016 to May-2022), were retrospectively retrieved and classified according to a standardized anatomo-surgical classification, and clustered into four Classes: Class I "Peritoneal", Class II "Hepatoceliac-lymph-nodes", Class III "Parenchymal" and Class IV Mixed (≥ 2 classes).
Results: Data from 615 patients were collected.
Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome is an autosomal dominant cancer susceptibility syndrome mainly due to variants in or genes. Patients presenting with or gene mutations have a lifetime risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer (80% and 40%, respectively). Genetic testing to explore the predisposition to develop cancer represents a pivotal factor in such cases, and this review wants to explore the main implications in terms of medicolegal liability and insurance issues.

The objective of this study was to describe the clinical, ovulatory and genital effects of postnatal androgens in female dogs. Ten newborn female crossbred puppies were randomly assigned to: testosterone enanthate 18 mg/100 g sc (TE; = 5) or placebo sc (PL; = 5).

RC is associated with a complication rate of approximately 50-88%. Immunonutrition (IMN) refers to the administration of substrates, such as omega-3 fatty acids, arginine, glutamine, and nucleotides, that modulate the immune response.

With respect to gynecological cancers, a major change has particularly been observed in the treatment landscape of epithelial ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers. Regarding the former, maintenance therapy with either poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) and/or bevacizumab has become an indispensable treatment option following the traditional combination of cytoreductive surgery and platinum-based chemotherapy.

Methods: This is the second update following the 2013 and 2020 Italian position papers by the Expert panel, which is a representation of the two scientific societies (SIPMO and SICMF). The paper is based on an extensive analysis of the available literature from January 2003 to February 2020, and the subsequent review of literature conducted between March 2020 and December 2022 to include all new relevant published papers to confirm or modify the previous set of recommendations.
Objective: In the era of target therapy and personalized medicine, BRCA mutational status has a major influence on survival in ovarian cancer patients. Our aim is to verify if the poorer prognosis of elderly ovarian cancer patients can be related to the biology of the tumor beyond their own morbidities and/or suboptimal treatments.
Methods: This is a retrospective single-institution study evaluating prognosis of patients with a diagnosis of ovarian cancer and known BRCA status.
Background: Migraine is a neurological disease with a high incidence. The new anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibodies (anti-CGRP mAbs) have demonstrated effectiveness in preventing episodic and chronic migraine.
Objective: To collect evidence of the real-world effectiveness of anti-CGRP mAbs by assessing outcomes such as reduction in monthly migraine days (MMDs), reduction in monthly headache days (MHDs), and percentage of patients having a 50% reduction in MMDs.
Background: We evaluated the prognostic role of 13-gene DNA methylation analysis by oral brushing repeatedly performed during the follow-up of patients surgically treated for oral cancer.
Methods: This is a nested case-control study including 61 patients for a total of 64 outcomes (2/61 patients experienced multiple relapses). Samples were collected at baseline (4-10 months after OSCC resection) and repeatedly every 4-10 months until relapse or death.
