Asteraceae is highly diverse in the Atlantic Forest, especially in montane environments. The early-diverging tribes within Asteraceae are of particular interest because of their great representation in Brazil and unique features within the family. Thus, a floristic inventory and systematic treatment of these basal grade in Caparaó National Park, an important remnant of Atlantic Forest that has been highlighted for its diversity and endemism, were undertaken.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAsteraceae is the world's richest plant family and is found on all continents, in environments ranging from the coast to the highest mountains. The family shows all growth forms and, as in other angiosperm families, species richness is concentrated in tropical regions. South America has the highest diversity of Asteraceae in the world, yet taxonomic and distributional knowledge gaps remain.

The present study aimed to characterize the ecogeography and phenolic constituents of 11 L. pinaster populations collected in the mesoregions North, Jequitinhonha, Metropolitan of Belo Horizonte and Campos das Vertentes in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The present study reports the use of a high-resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approach coupled with exploratory and supervised multivariate statistical analyses for species classification and chemical marker identification of four species of (, , , and sp.) from Ecuador and Peru.

Despite the fact that the Lima region has a third of the Peruvian population and more than half of the national pig and poultry production, there are no reports of the occurrence of the gene in isolated from livestock. In the present work, we studied the occurrence of carrying the gene in chicken and pig farms in Lima between 2019 and 2020 and described the genomic context of the gene.

A major challenge for improving conservation actions is to know the plant richness, protected by these areas. Online databases offer an accessible way to build plant species lists and to provide relevant information about biodiversity.

The tribe is chemically characterized by the presence of sesquiterpene lactones and flavonoids. Over the years, several taxonomic classifications have been proposed for Vernonia s.

However, the use of MALDI-TOF MS in plant research has been very limited. In the present study, a first protocol is proposed for metabolic fingerprinting by MALDI-TOF MS using three different MALDI matrices with subsequent multivariate data analysis by in-house algorithms implemented in the R environment for the taxonomic classification of plants from different genera, families and orders.
