The study aims to measure the bioavailability of thymol, a phytogenic feed additive, in quail products to understand its biological effects.
A validated HS-SPME technique, followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, was used for detecting thymol levels in quail faeces and egg yolk, with optimal extraction conditions established.
The method demonstrated high precision and sensitivity, successfully measuring thymol concentrations of 31.51ng/g in faeces and 11.83ng/g in egg yolk from quails fed a thymol-supplemented diet.
