This video shows robotic treatment of a patient with incidental gallbladder cancer diagnosed after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Rationale: The associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) procedure is a recently introduced treatment strategy for patients with advanced primary or metastatic liver tumors and small future liver remnants. ALPPS procedure using ischemic bipartition of the liver is a modified technique that may reduce complications compared to classical ALPPS.

Background: One of the main criticisms of laparoscopic liver resection is that it is difficult, or not possible, to perform liver-sparing resections.
