Pulmonary resections are critical interventions for treating various lung pathologies, both benign and malignant. Understanding the impact of these surgeries on patients' Quality of Life (QoL) is essential for optimizing care. This study aims to compare the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) and psychological well-being in patients who underwent pulmonary resections for benign versus malignant etiologies.

This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of initial high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) findings of pulmonary fibrosis in hospitalized COVID-19 patients and to examine how these findings relate to disease severity and clinical outcomes, with a particular focus on the development and validation of predictive scoring systems. In this multicentric prospective cohort study from January 2023 to January 2024, 120 adult patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection requiring hospitalization were enrolled from two Romanian university hospitals.

Their beneficial effects are associated with probiotic properties, which may be accompanied by immunomodulatory action at mucosal surfaces.
Methods: To single out such strains, we screened almost three hundred lactobacilli isolates from eight genera and various food sources for acid and bile salt tolerance, adhesion to mucin as well as hemolytic activity and antibiotic susceptibility.
Lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, is characterized by its aggressive nature and poor prognosis. As traditional chemotherapy has the disadvantage of non-specificity, nanomedicine offers innovative approaches for targeted therapy, particularly through the development of nanoparticles that can deliver therapeutic agents directly to cancer cells, minimizing systemic toxicity and enhancing treatment efficacy. VEGF and VEGFR are shown to be responsible for activating different signaling cascades, which will ultimately enhance tumor development, angiogenesis, and metastasis.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of decontamination scenarios.
Methods: This was a descriptive simulation-type study of 6 decontamination scenarios of a silicone fabric surface contaminated with 10 μg of cyclophosphamide.
The study examined the degradation process of various types of polymers used to form models using the fused deposition modeling (FDM) and three-dimensional printing (3DP) methods and used in the investment casting method. Commercial filaments made of polylactide (PLA), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene terpolymer (ABS), high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), polyamide 12 (PA12), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and polypropylene (PP) were used to produce gypsum molds. The assessment included organic volatile compounds (VOCs) released during mold heating and model degradation, which is characteristic of this technological process.

However, according to the Principles of Green Chemistry, it is evident that the various steps required to obtain molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are far from ideal. In this regard, greener alternatives to the synthesis of MIPs have been proposed in recent years.

Intraoperative bleeding is a crucial problem for the ear surgeon, as it prevents good visualization of the surgical field. The aim of this work was to analyze the relevant literature about the use of tranexamic acid in ear surgery.

This study evaluates the predictive value and diagnostic potential of interleukins interleukin (IL) IL-10, IL-17A, IL1-β, IL-6, chemokine ligand (CXCL), and Monocyte Chemotactic Protein (MCP) for severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and COVID-19 mortality, aiming to correlate cytokine levels with disease severity. Conducted from January 2023 to January 2024, this prospective cohort study involved patients hospitalized with moderate and severe COVID-19 from Romania.

The aim of this manuscript is to provide a topographical map of iCSF-L and to investigate the role of SB asymmetry in iCSF-L occurrence.
Methods: In this retrospective study, the location of iCSF-L dural defect was studied and compared to patients affected by spontaneous and post-traumatic CSF-L.
This systematic review critically evaluated the impact of a pre-infection COVID-19 vaccination on the incidence and severity of post-COVID-19 syndrome and aimed to assess the potential protective effect across different vaccines and patient demographics. This study hypothesized that vaccination before infection substantially reduces the risk and severity of post-COVID-19 syndrome. In October 2023, a comprehensive literature search was conducted across three databases, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus, focusing on studies published up to that date.

In addition to this process, other external organizations also require an accreditation, authorization, certification or validation process for professional practices.
Objective: The main objective is to identify and compare the methods of evaluating pharmaceutical practice in hospitals in France and Quebec.
Sarcoidosis is a complex inflammatory disease of uncertain origin, characterized by non-necrotizing epithelioid cell granulomas (NNEGs) affecting multiple organ systems. Although many different clinical and pathological phenotypes can be present, with different organs involved, the lung is the most common site described. In this case report, we (a) present and discuss the broad differential diagnosis of a patient presenting with a solitary lung mass with clinical and imaging features of lung cancer that ultimately was confirmed with a rare manifestation of stage II pulmonary sarcoidosis, and (b) analyze and compare similar cases from the literature.

The purpose of this work was to extend the scope of our preliminary studies and to evaluate the adjuvant potency of new derivatives in a set of clinical isolates. The study confirmed the high efficacy of piperazine derivatives of 5-arylideneimidazol-4-one (-) tested previously, and it enabled the authors to identify even more efficient modulators of bacterial resistance among new analogs.
