Objective: To calculate the incidence of renal graft urothelial carcinoma in renal transplant recipients in a national large retrospective cohort and to analyze circumstances of diagnosis, treatment and outcome.

Material And Methods: We conducted a national retrospective, multicenter study. Thirty two transplant centers were asked to report its cases of kidney graft tumors and the number of kidney transplantations performed since the beginning of their transplantation activity.

Objective: To assess the use of local haemostatic agents (HAs) in a prospective multicentre large series of partial nephrectomies (PNs).

Patients And Methods: Prospective National Observational Registry on the Practices of Haemostasis in Partial Nephrectomy (NEPHRON): the study was conducted in 54 French urological centres from 1 June to 31 December 2010. In all, 570 consecutive patients undergoing a PN were enrolled in this study in a prospective manner.

Introduction: Isolated vasculitis of the bladder is extremely rare. The main causes of which are auto-immune diseases and occasionally infections. Corticosteroid therapy plays a central role in treatment in the majority of cases.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare 2 preservation solutions in kidney transplant recipients in the same center during the same period since initiation of the use of High Na+; low K+ solution (Celsior).

Material And Methods: From January 1999 to April 2011, 610 consecutive renal transplantations were done in our department with deceased donor kidneys. Data were collected prospectively.

Introduction: The expression of CXCR4 is implicated in the metastatic dissemination of different cancers. The information on its prognostic value has been very limited in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Our objective was to explore the prognostic value of CXCR4 in ccRCC.

Aim: Carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA9) has been found to be one of most powerful biomarkers for clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The serum CA9 is detectable. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential prognostic role of serum CA9 in patients with metastatic clear-cell RCC patients under targeted therapy.

Objective: Our objective was to evaluate the levels of miR-210 in tumor and serum samples of conventional renal cell cancer (cRCC) patients to explore whether circulating miR-210 in serum can be used as a biomarker for the detection of cRCC.

Methods: The paired samples from primary cRCC tumors and adjacent non-tumoral renal parenchyma were collected from 32 patients with cRCC. Serum samples were obtained from 68 patients with a cRCC before surgery, 10 samples after one week of surgery, and 42 healthy individuals were included in this study.

Aim: Our aim was to evaluate the performance of combination of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and core biopsy (CB) as a method for the diagnosis of small solid renal tumors.

Patients And Methods: Ninety patients with a radiologically detected small solid renal tumor (≤ 4 cm) underwent a biopsy. Patient underwent FNA (FNA group, n=32) or CB (CB group, n=30) or combination of both FNA and CB (combination group, n=28).

Unlabelled: What's known on the subject? and What does the study add? Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have an increased risk of developing RCC in their native kidneys. The prevalence of RCC is 3-4% in cases of ESRD in dialyzed and/or transplanted patients, which corresponds to a rate 100-times higher than that in the general population. This is the first study, to our knowledge, comparing the characteristics of kidney cancer in the ESRD population according to their dialysis or transplantation status at the time of diagnosis.

Introduction: This study aims to assess the influence of different prognostic factors on survival of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) managed by nephroureterectomy and to investigate whether these factors have an independent prognostic significance.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of institutional databases from two teaching hospitals identified 269 consecutive patients with UTUC managed with nephroureterctomy between 1985 and 2005. Mean follow up was 80.

Background: Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) are at risk of developing renal tumours.

Objective: Compare clinical, pathologic, and outcome features of renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) in ESRD patients and in patients from the general population.

Design, Setting, And Participants: Twenty-four French university departments of urology participated in this retrospective study.

Objective: CA9 is proven to be a powerful marker for clear cell renal cell carcinoma. The studies on CA9 have been limited to solid renal cell carcinomas (RCC). We have conducted a study of CA9 expression in renal cystic tumors.

Carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA9) is a transmembrane member of the carbonic anhydrase family. It catalyses the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide into bicarbonate and a proton, thus enabling tumour cells to maintain a neutral pH despite an acidic microenvironment. CA9 is not expressed in healthy renal tissue but is expressed in most clear cell renal cell carcinomas (CCRCC) through HIF-1α accumulation driven by hypoxia and inactivation of the VHL gene.

Background: We conducted a retrospective multi-centre study to determine the characteristics of prostate cancer in renal transplant recipients (RTR) and to analyse the relation with immunosuppressive maintenance therapies.

Methods: Patients from 19 French transplant centres diagnosed with prostate cancer at least 1 year after kidney transplantation were included in this study. Data regarding demographics, kidney transplantation, prostate cancer and immunosuppressive treatment were analysed.

Background: Controversy exists about the effects of calcineurin inhibitors on bone metabolism. We decided to compare the effects of CyA vs FK506 on bone metabolism of kidney recipients.

Patients And Methods: From 94 patients grafted at the University Hospital of Nice between 1996 and 1999 treated either by CyA (N=49) or by FK506 (N=45), we selected 14 pairs (18 M, 10F), matched for gender, BMI, time lapsed since transplantation and gonadal status in females.

Introduction: This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of ESWL in the management of acute renal colic.

Material And Method: From January 2003 to August 2003, 102 patients were hospitalised for renal colic. We treated 57 patients by ESWL using an EDAP LT 02 apparatus.

Renal transplantation began in 1951 with a living donor. With advances in cadaveric transplantation, living donor transplantation became marginalised. Because of recent progresses in the field of transplantation, the scarcity of cadaveric kidneys and the attractivity of laparoscopic nephrectomy this therapeutic modality is regaining interest.

The aim of this paper was to assess long-term results of transperitoneal laparoscopic fenestration in the treatment of symptomatic simple renal cysts. Fifteen consecutive patients (7 men, 8 women), with a mean age of 51 years (range, 36-79 years), underwent transperitoneal fenestration of simple renal cysts (SRC) at our institution from 1994 to 2001. Data were collected by reviewing patients' clinical files, conducting telephone interviews regarding symptoms, and followup renal ultrasonography (US).
