Most of the latest generation of integrated circuits use FinFET transistors for their performance, but what about their reliability? Does the architectural evolution from planar MOSFET to FinFET transistor have any effect on the integrated circuit reliability? In this article, we present a test bench we have developed to age and measure the degradation of 5103 ring oscillators (ROs) implemented in nine FPGAs with 16nm FinFET under different temperature and voltage conditions (Vnom≤Vstress≤1.3Vnom and 25°C≤Tstress≤115°C) close to operational conditions in order to predict reliability regarding degradation mechanisms at the transistor scale (BTI, HCI and TDDB) as realistically as possible. By comparing our initial RO measurements and the data extracted from Vivado, we will show that the performance of the nine FPGAs is between 50% and 70% of the best performance expected by Vivado.

E-beam lithography has been used for reliable and versatile fabrication of sub-15 nm single-crystal gold nanoarrays and led to convincing applications in nanotechnology. However, so far this technique was either too slow for centimeter to wafer-scale writing or fast enough with the so-called dot on the fly (DOTF) technique but not optimized for sub-15 nm dots dimension. We report on the fabrication and characterization of a very compact filtering structure based on a resonant stub fabricated using optical wire technology in the InP material line. The stub length is close to 1.6 microm and has been designed to get a resonance wavelength close to 1550 nm.

We present the design, optimization, fabrication and characterization of an optical mode filter, which attenuates the snaking behavior of light caused by a lateral misalignment of the input optical fiber relative to an optical circuit. The mode filter is realized as a bottleneck section inserted in an optical waveguide in front of a branching element. It is designed with Bézier curves.

Long-acting parenteral formulations of antiretrovirals could facilitate maintenance and prophylactic treatment in HIV. Using the poorly water- and oil-soluble non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) TMC278 (rilpivirine) as base or hydrochloride (HCl), nanosuspensions were prepared by wet milling (Elan NanoCrystal technology) in an aqueous carrier. Laser diffraction showed that the average particles size were (1) close to the targeted size proportionality (200-400-800 nm), with increasing distributions the larger the average particle size, and (2) were stable over 6 months.

The primary objective of this study was to identify intravenous regimens of tipifarnib that would mimic the systemic exposure obtained after the current twice-daily oral administration of tipifarnib. After determination of an intravenous dose that 6 subjects with advanced cancer could tolerate, another 26 subjects were randomly assigned to receive 3 consecutive 4-day regimens of tipifarnib with different treatment sequences: a 100-mg 2-hour intravenous infusion, 200-mg oral administration twice daily, and a 200-mg/d continuous intravenous infusion. The systemic exposure to tipifarnib was comparable among these 3 regimens.

The authors report a case of emphysematous cystitis in a 50-year-old woman treated by corticosteroids, occurring 1 month after hysterectomy for locally advanced ovarian cancer. Although the patient presented a vesico-vaginal fistula, the presence of air in the bladder wall and only in the bladder lumen, confirmed the diagnosis of emphysematous cystitis. Despite intensive care and surgery with colostomy and Mikulicz drainage associated with urinary diversion (transparietal bladder catheter on one side and cutaneous ureterostomy on the other side), the patient died on day 10 in a context of sepsis.

The development of vaginal medications, especially antifungal medications, requires that the drug is solubilized as well as retained at or near the mucosa for sufficient periods of time to ensure adequate bioavailability. Itraconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent, which has been used for some time orally and intravenously but for which a vaginal formulation has not yet been developed. We present here a novel itraconazole formulation intended for vaginal use based on hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HPbetaCD), a functional excipient that increases drug solubility and generates a mucoadhesive system in the presence of other ingredients.
