Objective: To present and evaluate simple, cost-effective tests to determine the amount of insecticide on treated materials.
Methods: We developed and evaluated a competitive immunoassay on two different platforms: a label-free impedimetric biosensor (EIS biosensor) and a lateral flow. Both approaches were validated by gas chromatography (GC) and ELISA, gold standards for analytical methods and immunoassays, respectively.
We describe a novel continuous-flow cell concentrator microdevice based on dielectrophoresis, and its associated custom-made control unit. The performances of a classical interdigitated metal electrode-based dielectrophoresis microfluidic device and this enhanced version, that includes insulator-based pole structures, were compared using the same setup. Escherichia coli samples were concentrated at several continuous flows and the device's trapping efficiencies were evaluated by exhaustive cell counts.

This paper presents the integration of a micro direct methanol fuel cell (μDMFC) in a microfluidic platform as a smart solution to provide both electrical and pumping power to a Lab-on-a-Chip system. In this system the electric power produced by the fuel cell is available to enable most of the functionalites required by the microfluidic chip, while the generated CO(2) from the electrochemical reaction produces a pressure capable of pumping a liquid volume through a microchannel.
