Atractylenolide I Inhibits the Growth of Esophageal Cancer Cells by Inhibiting the Wnt/Β-Catenin Pathway.

Background: Esophageal cancer is a highly lethal cancer with a rapidly increasing incidence and a poor prognosis. Atractylenolide I is a natural sesquiterpene lactone extracted from the rhizome of the Asteraceae plant, which has a variety of pharmacological effects, such as anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory. Still, its impact on esophageal cancer has not been reported.

Alantolactone inhibits oesophageal adenocarcinoma cells through nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2-mediated reactive oxygen species increment.

Background: Oesophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is a highly lethal cancer associated with a rapidly rising incidence and a poor prognosis. Alantolactone, a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from inula helenium, has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, neuroprotective activities, and anticancer properties.

Objective: In the present study, the anticancer effects of alantolactone on the human EAC cells were investigated in vitro and in vivo.
