Article Synopsis
- - Low physical activity levels are common in children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and family-based activities combined with school programs can improve their activity and health.
- - A study with 36 children aimed to see if adding family support to physical education would boost physical activity (PA) and quality of life (QoL). After 6 months, those with the family support showed significantly more moderate to vigorous PA and less sedentary behavior compared to the control group.
- - The results indicated that family involvement not only increased active behaviors and improved QoL in the short term but also helped sustain these healthy habits over time.
