Intraguild predation (IGP) is a crucial ecological interaction that influences the dynamics of natural enemies and affects the effectiveness of biological control. Harmonia axyridis (Pallas) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), an invasive predator, significantly impacts native predators through IGP in certain countries. Pyemotes zhonghuajia (Yu, Zhang & He) (Prostigmata: Pyemotidae), a small ectoparasitoid, parasitizes various pests from the orders Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, and Hemiptera.

The braconid wasp Microplitis manilae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is a solitary, koinobiont endoparasitoid of young Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) larvae and one of its most crucial natural parasitic enemies. The establishment of a stable and sufficient population of M. manilae by rearing them in a laboratory is the cornerstone of field release management.

The subfamily Mileewinae in China comprises one tribe (Mileewini), four genera (, , , ), and 71 species, yet only 11 mitochondrial genomes have been published. This study aimed to elucidate ambiguous diagnostic traits in traditional taxonomy and examined phylogenetic relationships among genera by sequencing mitochondrial genomes from 16 species. The lengths of the mitochondrial genomes ranged from 14,532 to 15,280 bp, exhibiting an AT content of 77.

Three new species of the genus (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Cicadellinae), Jiang & Yang, Jiang & Yang and Jiang & Yang, , collected from southwestern China, are described and illustrated. The two new species, Jiang & Yang, and Jiang & Yang, , are similar to (Jacobi, 1944), Young, 1986, Kuoh, 1991, Li, 1992, Yang, Meng & Li, 2017, Yang, Meng & Li, 2017, and Jiang & Yang, 2022 in appearances, but can be distinguished from these species by the characteristic of aedeagus, paraphysis, and pygofer. Jiang & Yang, can be distinguished from all the known species by its special color and markings, as well as males having one ostiole in the center of the base of each subgenital plate.

Background: The fall armyworm (FAW) Spodoptera frugiperda, a highly invasive, polyphagous pest, poses a global agricultural threat. It has two strains, the C-corn and R-rice strains, each with distinct host preferences. This study compares detoxification enzyme gene families across these strains and related Spodoptera species to explore their adaptation to diverse host plant metabolites.

The beet webworm (BWW), Loxostege sticticalis (L.), is a notorious migratory agriculture pest of crops and fodder plants, inducing sudden outbreaks and huge losses of food and forage production. Quantifying its spatiotemporal patterns and possible dynamics under future climate scenarios may have significant implications for management policies and practices against this destructive agriculture pest.

Background: The potato tuber moth (PTM), Phthorimaea operculella, is an economically important pest of potato crops worldwide. So far, the application of chemical pesticides is the major measure to manage PTM, but it induces serious deleterious impacts on the environment and human health. Here, we screened the entomopathogenic fungi that are lethal to PTM, and tested their sublethal impacts on PTM development, mortality, and reproduction as well as that of ectoparasitic mite Pyemotes zhonghuajia, a natural enemy of PTM.

Biological control is an effective and sustainable method of integrated pest management. Microplitis manilae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is a common internal parasitoid wasp of the order Lepidoptera. To determine a suitable host species for the reproduction of parasitoids, it is essential to assess host suitability and parasitic potential of the parasitized pests.

The antennal sensilla play an important role in many behavioral activities of insects. The fungivorous beetle Triplax ainonia Lewis (Erotylidae) is an important pest which prefers to feed on Pleurotus mushrooms. In order to clarify the types, number, and distribution of the antennal sensilla of male and female T.

In July 2023, a new leaf spot disease emerged on tobacco leaves in Meitan County, Guizhou Province, China (27°20'18" - 28°12'30"N, 107°15'36" - 107°41'08"E, average altitude 972 meters). Initially, the symptoms showed raised yellow-brown spots; subsequently, the lesions expanded and became broken and perforated, leading to a significant loss of economic value, the prevalence rate exceeded 30%. For isolation, two tissue fragments (0.

The onion aphid, Neotoxoptera formosana, poses a significant threat to Allium crops worldwide, causing considerable economic losses and quality degradation. To develop effective pest management strategies, it is crucial to understand the feeding behavior and life history of this pest on different Allium crops. In this study, the electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique was used to monitor the thorn-feeding behavior of the onion aphid on 4 Allium crops: leek, chive, garlic, and shallot.

Accurate taxonomical identification is an extremely important basis for stick insect research, including evolutionary biology but also applied biology such as pest control. In addition, genetic methods are a valuable identification auxiliary technology at present. Therefore, this paper used morphological and molecular data to investigate five stick insect specimens from the genus in Yunnan, successfully identifying two new species: Xu, Jiang & Yang, and Xu, Jiang & Yang, A phylogenetic tree was constructed through their and genes in order to infer the phylogenetic position of the two new species.
