Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the developmental processes of hormone-producing cells in the pancreas, specifically focusing on the different types of endocrine cells and their progression from progenitor cells.
  • - Researchers utilized innovative mouse models and advanced genetic tools to conduct deep single-cell RNA sequencing, uncovering distinct pathways and progenitor states involved in creating various endocrine lineages, including α, β, δ, PP, and ε cells.
  • - By comparing mouse and human pancreatic development, the research reveals both similarities and differences in cell types and regulatory networks, contributing to a better understanding of how to generate pancreatic islets in lab conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of streptozotocin (STZ) on pancreatic hormone-producing islet cells to understand cellular changes in diabetes models.
  • Researchers used single-cell RNA sequencing to analyze nearly 3,000 pancreatic endocrine cells, employing various techniques for data analysis and validation.
  • Results showed that while some β-cells survived STZ treatment and adopted new characteristics, no evidence of conversion between different β-cell populations was found, suggesting limited regeneration potential in this diabetes model.

The generation of terminally differentiated cell lineages during organogenesis requires multiple, coordinated cell fate choice steps. However, this process has not been clearly delineated, especially in complex solid organs such as the pancreas. Here, we performed single-cell RNA-sequencing in pancreatic cells sorted from multiple genetically modified reporter mouse strains at embryonic stages E9.

To study hydrological features and physical and chemical characteristics of urban stream located in the plain river network area in the process of water resources regulation, and to discuss the forming and composition of nitrogen in urban stream based on water resources regulation. Effects of water regulation on the ammonium release from sediments in urban stream were studied under the condition of experimental simulation. The results showed that diurnal variation of water depth under the action of water resources regulation was significant.
