The safety and short-term effect of mixed approach in laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for right colon cancer compared with middle approach: a retrospective study.

Purpose: To investigate whether the mixed approach is a safe and advantageous way to operate laparoscopic right hemicolectomy.

Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 316 patients who underwent laparoscopic right hemicolectomy in our center. They were assigned to the middle approach group (n = 158) and the mixed approach group (n = 158) according to the surgical approaches.

Identification of a three-gene prognostic signature for radioresistant esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is causing a high mortality rate due to the lack of efficient early prognosis markers and suitable therapeutic regimens. The prognostic role of genes responsible for the acquisition of radioresistance in ESCC has not been fully elucidated.

The objective of this meta-analysis was to compare the overall survival and short-term surgical outcomes between neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery (NACS) and surgery alone (SA) for locally advanced gastric cancer.

Methods: Databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar) were explored for relative studies from January 2000 to January 2021.

Modeling epidemic in metapopulation networks with heterogeneous diffusion rates.

In this paper, the process of the infectious diseases among cities is studied in metapopulation networks. Based on the heterogeneous diffusion rate, the epidemic model in metapopulation networks is established. The factors affecting diffusion rate are discussed, and the relationship among diffusion rate, connectivity of cities and the heterogeneity parameter of traffic flow is obtained.

The impact of media converge on complex networks on disease transmission.

In this paper, we propose an epidemic disease model about the effect of media coverage on complex networks, where the contacts between nodes are treated as a social network. We calculate the basic reproduction number R and get that the disease-free equilibrium is locally and globally asymptotically stable if R< 1, otherwise disease-free equilibrium is unstable and there exists a unique endemic equilibrium, and the disease is permanent. And two immunization strategies are considered: proportional and target immunization.
