Nephrotic syndrome (NS) and atopic diseases are linked through shared immunological pathways, with allergic triggers often contributing to NS relapses, particularly in immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated pathways. Omalizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting free and cell-bound IgE, is commonly used in treating atopic diseases. We presented a pediatric case with a history of eczema, asthma, and recurrent atopic rhinitis, who first developed NS at age three, responding well to steroid therapy.

Article Synopsis
  • Porous Organic Cages (POCs) have recently drawn interest across various fields, but most research has focused on their intrinsic porosity rather than the extrinsic porosity, which is under-explored.
  • A new POC, called NKPOC-DS, was developed by mimicking hydrophobic proteins, creating a structure with hydrophobic "intermolecular pockets" that improves its ability to interact with other molecules, as confirmed by advanced analysis techniques.
  • NKPOC-DS shows a unique ability to selectively adsorb methane (CH) from mixtures, demonstrating how biomimicry can help design effective POCs for applications in recognizing and separating gases.

Grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) is a natural polyphenolic compound, which plays an important role in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of GSPE supplementation on the cholesterol metabolism and antioxidant status of finishing pigs. In longissimus dorse (LD) muscle, the data showed that GSPE significantly decreased the contents of total cholesterol (T-CHO) and triglyceride (TG), and decreased the mRNA expression of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoAR) and Fatty acid synthase (FAS), while increased the mRNA expression of carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1b (CPT1b), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARα) and peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α).

Existing literature strongly supports the idea that children with primary nocturnal enuresis (PNE) have brainstem abnormalities. However, the connection between pre-micturition arousal responses and brain functional connectivities is still not clearly defined. Our study investigated the correlation between the gradations of micturition desire-awakening (MDA) functionality and the functional connectivity of the midbrain periaqueductal gray (PAG), a pivotal brainstem hub implicated in the neural regulation of micturition in humans.
