The epidemiological assessment of wine consumption usually has been obtained using self-reporting questionnaires. In this study, two metabolomic approaches, targeted and untargeted, were applied to 24-h urine samples from a cohort of La Rioja (Spain) (aged 52-78), comparing moderate and daily wine consumers (20 males and 13 females) without diet intervention, versus non-consumers (8 males and 35 females). Results showed that the non-targeted metabolomics approach has allowed for the annotation of sixteen compounds in 24-h urine samples from regular wine-consumers that were not detected in the urine of non-wine consumers.

This method is adapted for the first time to learn spatio-temporal dynamics, accounting for two-dimensional spatial and one temporal coordinate inputs separately. The estimator is validated on real agricultural data, addressing challenges like measurement noise and quantization.

However, reports on the relationship between H. pylori infection and HBC showed variable and contrasting findings.

This study aimed to assess the impact of implementing a clinical care pathway algorithm on reducing the time to treatment for ICI-P.
Methods: Patients with lung cancer and suspected ICI-P were enrolled, and a multimodal intervention promoting algorithm use was implemented in two phases.
Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody (anti-MDA-5 Ab) is associated with amyopathic dermatomyositis (DM). These patients are particularly at high-risk for developing acute and rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (ILD). Given the lack of muscle-related symptoms, along with its sudden onset and rapid clinical progression, the diagnosis of anti-MDA-5 Ab + ILD represents a challenge for clinicians.

We reported a case of takotsubo cardiomyopathy secondary to influenza A infection with multiple organ failure, showing the shark fin sign and resulting in in-patient mortality and various complication.

Arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) have been associated with pH mainly by increasing cardiac output. However, the burden of precapillary pH in individuals with CKD and an AVF is unclear.

The intensive use of the few available antileishmanial drugs has led to the spreading of hyper-resistant strains, resulting in a chronic burden of the disease. In the present work, we have investigated the biochemical mechanisms of resistance to antimonials, paromomycin, and miltefosine in three drug-resistant parasitic strains from human clinical isolates, using a whole-cell mass spectrometry proteomics approach.

Spain's decentralized public health system, managed by 17 autonomous communities (AaCc), raises concerns about equitable access.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey (July-September 2023) was sent to Spanish Multidisciplinary Melanoma Group (GEM Group) members to assess access to new drugs.
Candidiasis is considered an emerging public health concern because of the occurrence of drug-resistant strains and the lack of an available structurally diverse antifungal drug armamentarium. The indole alkaloid globospiramine from the anticandidal Philippine medicinal plant exhibits a variety of biological activities; however, its antifungal properties remain to be explored. In this study, we report the in vitro anticandidal activities of globospiramine against two clinically relevant species ( and ) and the exploration of its possible target proteins using in silico methods.

Many strategies have been employed to address the drug-resistant issue, including a trend that is gaining attention, which is the design and discovery of inhibitors that are either dual- or multitargeting. The multiple-target design concept is not new in medicinal chemistry.

Methods: A comprehensive database search identified 4,931 studies that were screened for eligibility. Relevant data were then extracted and collated and analyzed using Meta-DiSc 1.
Background: The development of highly active drugs has improved the survival of melanoma patients, but elevated drug prices place a significant burden on health care systems. In Spain, the public health care system is transferred to the 17 autonomous communities (AACC). The objective of this study is to describe the situation of drug access for melanoma patients in Spain and how this decentralized system is affecting equity.

In this study, we investigated the cytotoxic and antiproliferative activities of three spirobisindole alkaloids from the traditional anticancer Philippine medicinal plant , along with their mechanisms of action. Thus, the alkaloids globospiramine (), deoxyvobtusine (), and vobtusine lactone () showed in vitro cytotoxicity and antiproliferative activities against the tested cell lines (L929, KB3.

Background: Targeted therapies and immunotherapy are currently considered the mainstay first-line treatment for advanced BRAF-mutated melanoma. However, the impact of treatment (targeted therapy and immunotherapy) and the prognostic factors are still not clear.
Material And Methods: Medical records of 140 patients diagnosed with advanced melanoma between 2011 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed to extract demographic, BRAF status, treatment, performance status, and survival data.
RNA-binding proteins are emerging as critical modulators of oncogenic cell transformation, malignancy and therapy resistance. We have previously found that the RNA-binding protein Cold Shock Domain containing protein E1 (CSDE1) promotes invasion and metastasis of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer and also a highly heterogeneous disease in need of predictive biomarkers and druggable targets. Here, we design a monoclonal antibody useful for IHC in the clinical setting and use it to evaluate the prognosis potential of CSDE1 in an exploratory cohort of 149 whole tissue sections including benign nevi and primary tumors and metastasis from melanoma patients.

Along with expanding usage comes the emergence of immune-related adverse events (irAEs), including ICI-related pneumonitis (ICI-P). Treatment guidelines for managing irAEs have been developed; however, how clinicians manage irAEs in the real-world setting is less well known.

While mHealth technology offers potential for facilitating chronic illness management and enhancing health behaviors among visually impaired older populations, understanding its usage remains limited.
Objective: This qualitative research aimed to explore the mHealth technology experiences of middle-aged and older individuals with visual impairments including the accessibility and usability issues they faced.
This study aimed to describe the potentially preventable 7-day unplanned readmission (PPR) rate in medical oncology patients. A retrospective analysis of all unplanned 7-day readmissions within Hospital Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center from September 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021, was performed. Readmissions were independently analyzed by 2 randomly selected individuals to determine preventability.
