Background: Rectal malignancy ranks among the most prevalent malignancies in humans. Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is advocated as the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer. In patients who achieve complete clinical response (cCR), successive surgical intervention may result in favorable immediate and long-lasting results; however, it may be associated with decreased quality of life.
