Interstitial cells of Cajal in the plane of the myenteric plexus (ICC-MY) serve as electrical pacemakers in the stomach and small intestine. A similar population of cells is found in the colon, but these cells do not appear to generate regular slow wave potentials, as characteristic in more proximal gut regions. Uncontrolled diabetes can trigger a movement disorder called hemichorea-hemiballismus, characterized by non-ketotic hyperglycemia-related chorea/ballism and usually reversible basal ganglia abnormalities on CT and/or MRI. Objective: To examine the association between the use of virtual doula appointments on a comprehensive digital health platform and users' mode of birth and their birth experiences, among all platform users and Black platform users.

Methods: Data for this retrospective cohort study were extracted from individuals who enrolled in a comprehensive digital health platform, between January 1, 2020, and April 22, 2023. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the association between number of virtual doula appointments completed on the digital health platform and odds of cesarean birth and user-reported birth experience outcomes, which included help deciding a birth preference, receiving a high level of support during pregnancy, learning medically accurate information about pregnancy complications and warning signs, and managing mental health during pregnancy, stratified by parity.

Purpose: Bovine serum albumin (BSA) nanoparticles (BSA-MTX-CUR-NPs) encapsulating methotrexate (MTX) and curcumin (CUR) was developed with an aim to co-deliver the drugs at the inflamed joint so as to maximize the therapeutic efficacy and alleviate toxic side effects associated with MTX.

Methods: Nanoparticle albumin-bound technology was used to formulate nanoparticles, followed by characterization for its particle size, polydispersity index, encapsulation efficiency, zeta potential, surface morphology, drug release and drug release kinetics. Plant defensins including defensin 1 (MsDef1) are cysteine-rich antifungal peptides which are known for potent broad-spectrum antifungal activity against bacterial or fungal pathogens of plants.
