We report an 18-year-old man with paroxysmal jerking movements of the left arm since age 7 years. These were invariably precipitated by startle or sudden movements. He was subsequently diagnosed with a cervical cord anaplastic astrocytoma on MRI.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate seizure outcome in children with intractable secondary generalized epilepsy without a resectable focus who underwent complete corpus callosotomy and compare these results to those of anterior two-third callosotomy.

Method: Data were obtained for all patients who underwent a corpus callosotomy from 2000 to 2005. The study involved 37 patients.

Purpose: To provide a descriptive analysis of the stroke features in a population of patients from a large urban hospital within the 'stroke belt', with the intention of stimulating interest in creating similar comprehensive databases across the country; the differential population features that may contribute to the increased incidence of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke within the 'stroke belt' can thus be better studied and understood.
