Cation exchange resins are commonly used as treatment for hyperkalaemia in patients with chronic renal disease. There is a relation between cation exchange resins and the development of gastrointestinal adverse effects. A case of an intestinal obstruction at the terminal ileum is presented that underwent an ileocolic resection because of a critical stenosis of the intestine.

Background: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are one of the most frequently reported types of hospital-acquired infection and are associated with substantial clinical and economic burden.

[Adenocarcinoma arising in Meckel's diverticulum: a case report and literature review].

Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the gastrointestinal tract. The presence of malignant lesions arising in the diverticulum is very rare, the most common malignant lesion being sarcoma, followed by carcinoid tumors, and less frequently by adenocarcinomas. We present the case of an 86-year-old man who developed acute abdomen.

[Management of patients with iatrogenic bile duct injury].

Objectives: The aim of this study is to present an analysis of 30 patients with major bile duct injuries in a single hospital centre.
