Herein, a subcutaneous formulation based on polymer of alpha-ketoglutarate (paKG) delivering glycolytic inhibitor PFK15 (PFKFB3 inhibitor, a rate limiting step in glycolysis), alpha-ketoglutarate (to fuel Krebs cycle) and peptide antigen from myelin proteolipid protein (PLP139-151) was utilized as the prophylactic immunosuppressive formulation in a mouse model of TBI.

"Ups and Downs, Joys and Sorrows" - Assessment and Clinical Relevance of Patient Priorities in an Interdisciplinary Parkinson's Disease Clinic.

Purpose: Barriers to communication and inaccurate provider assumptions about patient priorities limit the delivery of comprehensive, high-quality, patient-centered care (PCC) to people with Parkinson's (PWP). This study aimed to analyze priorities of PWP using a qualitative, unstructured single-question survey and to test associations with validated quality of life (QOL) measures.

Methods: During appointments at a subspecialty, interdisciplinary clinic, PWP (n=139) provided written responses to the prompt: "What is important for your care team to know about you?" Patient Health Questionnaire, Montreal Cognitive Assessment, and Hoehn and Yahr scales were obtained through retrospective chart review.

A Qualitative Study on Perspectives of Parkinson's Disease Medications: Insights from Patient Focus Groups.

Purpose: Medication is an important component of the management of Parkinson's disease (PD), yet few studies investigate factors that inform medication decision-making from the perspective of those who use these therapies. This qualitative study aimed to better understand the medication experiences and perspectives of people with PD (PwPD).

Patients And Methods: Thirty-two PwPD recruited from five large movement disorder clinics from five US states participated in 1-hour on-line focus groups in 2022.

The utility of next-generation sequencing in distinguishing between separate primary lung carcinomas and intrapulmonary metastasis: A case report.

The distinction between separate primary lung carcinomas (SPLCs) and intrapulmonary metastases (IPMs) is crucial to accurate cancer staging. Histopathology-based classification cannot always determine the relatedness of multiple tumors taken from the lung. Recently, next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been used for biomarker determination, but it also has the potential to inform clonality determination among multiple tumors.

A CAR enhancer increases the activity and persistence of CAR T cells.

Although chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies have demonstrated promising clinical outcomes, durable remissions remain limited. To extend the efficacy of CAR T cells, we develop a CAR enhancer (CAR-E), comprising a CAR T cell antigen fused to an immunomodulatory molecule. Here we demonstrate this strategy using B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) CAR T cells for the treatment of multiple myeloma, with a CAR-E consisting of the BCMA fused to a low-affinity interleukin 2 (IL-2).

Analysis of Faculty Gender and Race in Scholarly Achievements in Academic Neurology.

Intersection of gender and race and/or ethnicity in academic medicine is understudied; we aim to understand these factors in relation to scholarly achievements for neurology faculty. Faculty from 19 US neurology departments completed a survey (2021-2022) to report rank, leadership positions, publications, funded projects, awards, and speaker invitations. Regression analyses examined effects of gender, race, and their intersectionality on these achievements.

Health Care Needs of Individuals with Parkinson's Disease Living in Eastern North Carolina: Insights for Multidisciplinary Care and Telemedicine.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a complex condition, and individuals living in rural areas often face challenges accessing the specialized care they require. To better understand the specific healthcare needs of individuals with PD in Eastern North Carolina (ENC), the present study investigated three key areas: access to a multidisciplinary care team, access to PD-specific resources, and access to resources for establishing telemedicine services. Participants were recruited through email invitations to Parkinson's Foundation members and the distribution of postcards in the region, and 106 individuals with PD in ENC completed the online survey.

Neurobehavioral outcomes of infants exposed to buprenorphine-naloxone compared with naltrexone during pregnancy.

Background: Naltrexone is a medication used to treat both opioid and alcohol use disorder with limited experience in pregnant individuals, particularly in comparison to more commonly utilized treatments such as buprenorphine-naloxone. The long-term outcomes of infants exposed to naltrexone has not been previously examined.

Introduction: Due to the health consequences arising from climate change, medical students will inevitably interact with affected patients during their training and careers. Accordingly, medical schools must incorporate education on the impacts of climate change on health and equity into their curricula. The presence of a doula has been associated with positive birthing outcomes for white individuals, but the experiences of women of colour remain underexplored. The purpose of this qualitative paper is to understand the attitudes of black and Latinx communities towards doula-supported birthing practices.
